Keeping the public updated, Chrissy Teigen has announced the health of her child. On her social media page, Teigen revealed that her 6-year-old son Miles has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
This revelation came after some observant fans noticed something strange in a picture she posted to her Instagram account. In the image, Miles holds a Simone Biles poster over his head, showing his Type 1 diabetes monitor.
Following questions from concerned fans, the mom of four took to her Instagram page to share her son’s health journey. Here’s what we know.
Is Chrissy Teigen’s Son Sick?
Yes, he is. In response to various inquiries by concerned fans, Teigen decided to address the issue in an elaborate Instagram caption. She started her write-up by saying, “A lot of you noticed something a little special about a photo I posted a few days ago of Luna, Miles, and I celebrating Simone and team USA.”
“Miles had his arm up, and so many of you reached out to say the most beautiful and incredible words I have ever witnessed on this platform,” she continued. “You noticed his type-1 diabetes monitor and extended so much love and encouragement in every way possible. I was and am so blown away by the kindness of this community.”

Subsequently, Teigen added that she was grateful for the situation, as she was aware it could have been way worse. She also said it was great to be surrounded by her family and to have access to a specialist.
How Did Teigen Discover Miles’ Diabetes?
Revealing how she made the discovery, Teigen said that earlier in July 2024, Miles fell ill and was taken to the hospital. Subsequently, she admitted it was a terrible case of shigella. Shigella is an intestinal infection that is caused by the presence of bacteria in food or water.
According to Teigen, not just Miles but most of his friends had taken ill from the sickness. The common denominator is a camp that the kids attended. However, Teigen said that the doctor saw something unusual during the testing of Miles’ blood.
“I’ve learned since then that this is how so many young children end up being diagnosed with type 1— going to the hospital for something completely different,” Chrissy Teigen said. “After further testing, we learned he is in the ‘honeymoon period’ of a lifetime of T1.”
Giving details of the picture that got fans worried, Teigen said, “Last night we gave him his first shot of insulin, and here we go! It’s a different, new world for us, and we are certainly learning so much on the fly.”
Chrissy Teigen Responds to Fans Comments
The celebrity spouse thanked her fans for all the kindness, love, and goodwill they have showered on her. Chrissy Teigen stated that to support Miles with his diagnosis, she and her husband, John Legend, have been consulting the book Year One with Type One.
Teigen posted the quote and images from the book in her post, simply captioning it, “Love u guys!!!!” Following her Sunday, July 28, 2024, post with Miles and her daughter Luna at the Paris Olympics, fans became worried about Miles’s health.
The adorable kid was holding up a banner, and his upper arm was visible because he was wearing a continuous glucose monitor, which led Teigen to share his diagnosis.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are parents to four kids. They used in vitro fertilization (IVF) to conceive their first two children, a male born in 2018 and a girl born in 2016. In 2020, Teigen became pregnant again.
However, this time, she lost the pregnancy at 20 weeks owing to an issue that was first reported as a miscarriage. In 2022, Teigen said that the loss of her child was an abortion to save her life for a kid who had no chance.
Teigen gave birth to a third child in 2023, an IVF-conceived daughter. Later in the year, a son, their fourth child, was born through surrogacy.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s Relationship
After four years of dating, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend announced their engagement in December 2011. On September 14, 2013, Teigen and Legend married at a venue in Como, Italy, where they celebrated their union.
She was the subject of Legend’s song “All of Me.” Teigen and Legend live in Beverly Hills, California. On September 16, 2023, they celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary and reaffirmed their vows beside Lake Como, Italy.
