In a unanimous and unexpected turn of events, Chance the Rapper and his wife, Kirsten Corley, are splitting up. On Friday, December 13, 2024, online court documents accessed by PEOPLE revealed that Chance the Rapper’s wife had formally filed for divorce from him.
However, the filing comes as no surprise, as the former couple announced their separation via a joint statement in April 2024.
Taking to their Instagram accounts in April 2024, they wrote, “After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition.”
Despite their estrangement, the filing did not reveal if Corley was requesting child support in the divorce, as the couple shared two kids together. Speaking on their kids in an April 2024 statement, the couple expressed their desire and intention to continue co-parenting their children.
Who Is Chance the Rapper’s Wife?
Chance the Rapper and Kirsten Corley married on March 9, 2019, at the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California. Corley is an influencer, entrepreneur, and former model who was born on May 31, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois. With her modeling career spanning 2 years between 2014 and 2016, Corley modeled for Shelby Steiner, Alexander Wang, and the now-closed MIJ Boutique.

According to her LinkedIn and Instagram, Chance the Rapper’s wife graduated from DePaul University in 2014.
Speaking on how her psychology degree has impacted her parenting style, Coeley said, “It’s all about the human mind and child development. Applying that has been super helpful, and being able to be patient with myself and have grace, too. Knowing that I’m not going to be perfect all the time, but I try my best.”
In June 2022, Corley told Essence that she briefly studied fashion marketing at the Art Institute of Chicago before leaving. However, she stated that her time at the institute had not gone to waste as she acquired many skills during her time in the program.

After a contentious video on the rapper’s 30th birthday in 2023 went public, rumors about their relationship issues intensified. The video, which sparked accusations of adultery, showed the rapper dancing provocatively at Jamaica’s Carnival. Even though Chance’s lawyers denied the accusations, Kirsten Corley’s mysterious Instagram post suggested more serious problems.

Chance the Rapper stated his attention was caught when she and her pals went out to dance to the Destiny’s Child song “Independent Women Part 1.” However, they remained largely strangers until 2012, when they reunited at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. However, the couple did not really connect until they returned to Chicago, where they bonded.
After they began dating in 2013, Chance the rapper proposed to Kirsten Corley on July 4, 2018, at a backyard event in Chicago.
