Every NFL fan knows Cam Newton, but who are Cam Newton’s children? Cam is undoubtedly one of this age’s most famous NFL quarterbacks, but at 34, he already has seven children.
Interestingly, not all of Cam’s children are biologically his. He made the reveal in an Instagram post published on Father’s Day 2021. He wrote that a father isn’t defined as the man who makes the child but rather as the one who extends his hands and time to help raise a child.
He also noted that a father is also someone who dedicates their “heart to love the child through anything! Blood doesn’t always make you ‘Daddy.” For him, being a dad is a thing that comes deeply from the heart, as anybody could make a baby. But a real man must be a father and raise a child.
As such, Cam is invested in the life of his seven children. Let’s meet them.
Chosen Newton: The First of Cam Newton’s Children
Chosen Sebastian Newton is Cam Newton’s eldest and best-known child. He was born on December 24, 2015. Chosen is the QB’s first child with Kia Proctor, his first known girlfriend.
After Chosen’s birth, Cam wrote on Twitter, “My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week. Our family is excited, and thank you all for the well wishes!”
In a second tweet, he wrote, “I’ve been quiet about this because I didn’t want to create a distraction for my team and appreciate the privacy in this joyous time.”
Cam explained his choice of name for his son during a chat with Washington Post in 2016. He said, “I wanted a masculine and uncommon name. I’m not fond of naming my son after myself, and whenever I mentioned this, people would ask, ‘What do you expect Chosen to bring then?'”
Sovereign-Dior Newton
In 2017, Cam and Kia Proctor joyfully welcomed their second child. However, before that, in December 2016, Cam’s father, Cecil Newton, revealed that she was already nine months pregnant. “We’re filled with excitement,” Cecil shared with NBC Charlotte reporter Michelle Boudin, who tweeted about the pregnancy.
In April 2017, Cam disclosed the name of his second child as Sovereign-Dior Cambella Newton. He decided to keep her identity a secret until he unveiled her face in that year’s Christmas card. Classic Cam Newton!
Camidas Newton
In 2018, Camidas Swain Newton entered the world. Cam and Kia shared the news of the pregnancy in March of that year through an Instagram picture featuring Kia in her second trimester. She captioned the photo as “Big Mama.”
Four months later, on July 6, 2018, Camidas was born. However, Kia waited until November to reveal the first photo of their third child.
Cashmere Newton
In May 2019, Cam and Kia excitedly announced that they were expecting their fourth child, just ten months after the arrival of Camidas. Kia shared a selfie with a growing baby bump and captioned it, “Blessed ❤️ #anotherone #momof5.”
The news came a few months after Cam said he was taking a break from sex to challenge himself in different ways. Cashmere Saint Newton was born on September 30, 2019, although fans had to wait until December of that year to see him.
Kia posted an Instagram photo featuring them wearing matching red plaid pajamas while sitting in front of a Christmas tree. In 2020, Cam shared a picture of himself with Cashmere on his first birthday.
Shakira Proctor: The Eldest Among Cam Newton’s Children
Can you spot the name difference? That’s because Shakira is not Cam Newton’s biological child. When Cam expressed in 2021 that “a Daddy isn’t defined as the man who makes the child,” he specifically referred to Shakira, Kia’s daughter from a previous relationship. Cam shares a close bond with Shakira and elaborated on their relationship in a 2017 Instagram post.
While wishing Shakira a Happy Birthday, Cam noted that she is the real girl who changed his life when they first met five years ago. He wrote, “You have challenged me in ways you will never know because, in retrospect, you were my first child.
This message isn’t to brag or complain about my situation, but this is just real talk. Being labeled a stepdad is hard on the parent just as much as it is for the child to accept it. It is hard work for both parties, and I respect any stepparent that takes full responsibility for a God-sent child.”
He added, “I remember the first day you called me daddy, and I was scared. But when I thought about it, I was honored for you to think of me as not only a male figure in your life but also as a father figure.”
Caesar Newton
In January 2020, reports alleged that Cam and Kia had ended their relationship due to Cam fathering a secret child with Instagram model La Reina Shaw. According to several outlets, La Reina shared an Instagram Story at the end of January 2020 that seemingly featured a baby in a stroller, further fueling speculation about the alleged child.
On July 4, 2020, the quarterback proudly introduced the child named Caesar Lorenzo Newton to the world as they celebrated his first birthday. “I have grown so much with you being here on this earth,” wrote Cam on Instagram, “and I am constantly reminded what my purpose, discipline, and drive are.”
Jaden Amarrio
In that post, there was one more name mentioned by Cam: Jaden. This caused some confusion, as Cam is known for protecting his private life. Speculations arose about whether he had another undisclosed child. However, it was clarified that Jaden is Jaden Amarrio, the child of La Reina from her previous relationship. So he is not Cam’s biological child.
Cam Newton’s journey to being a father of seven kids most definitely wouldn’t have been easy. However, the NFL quarterback has borne his responsibilities gracefully in a way that will leave others inspired to want to try the same.
