ID’s docuseries “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Children TV” investigates the disturbing allegations made against former Nickelodeon dialect coach Brian Peck. The candid documentary takes viewers behind the scenes of Nickelodeon’s golden era.
It exposed the purportedly poisonous and abusive environment created behind the scenes by showrunner Dan Schneider and other adults on set. This is according to several of the era’s top child performers.
The four-part series, which debuted on March 17, 2024, includes interviews with former cast and crew members. They talked about the alleged poisonous and abusive behavior that transpired behind the scenes of their popular shows.
Among them is “Drake & Josh” star Drake Bell, who claims Peck abused him as a child on multiple occasions. Here’s all we know about the former Nickelodeon dialect coach and his sexual assault case.
Who Is Brian Peck?
Brian Peck began his career as an actor, playing in films including “Return of the Living Dead” and the successful sitcom “Growing Pains,” where he served as Alan Thicke’s body double.
After appearing as Pickle Boy on “All That,” he was hired as a dialogue coach and collaborated with Nickelodeon on other projects.

In the early 1990s, he performed as an actor and dialogue coach on several children’s television shows, including “Boy Meets World,” “Kenan & Kel,” “The Amanda Show,” and “What I Like About You.”
In addition to television, he worked on several significant films in the early 2000s. This includes “Holes,” starring Shia LaBeouf, and “Love Wrecked,” starring Amanda Bynes.
What Did Drake Bell Accuse Brian Peck Of?
Drake Bell is a former Nickelodeon child star who debuted in the comedy series “The Amanda Show” before landing his own show, “Drake & Josh.” He discussed his purported encounters with Peck in the third edition of “Quiet on Set.”
Bell’s father stated in the documentary that he had previously expressed concerns about Peck but had been rejected. This resulted in Bell firing his father as his manager. Bell, then 15, allegedly awoke on the couch one morning to find Peck sexually assaulting him.
According to Bell, Peck eventually apologized and said it would “never happen again.” However, Bell stated that the abuse worsened over time. The then-child actor stated that he was reluctant to speak up at the time.

This was because of Brian Peck’s enormous business ties, fearing it would jeopardize his acting future. Bell claims that his girlfriend’s mother realized something was awry in 2003. This prompted him to eventually tell his own mother about the abuse.
Police were notified, and an investigation began. During this, Bell claimed he called Peck and persuaded him to admit to the alleged abuse on tape.
What Was Brian Peck Charged With?
Brian Peck was arrested on August 19, 2003, for 11 offenses, including sexual acts with a juvenile. This is according to a news statement from the Los Angeles Police Department. However, the LAPD states that the investigation into Peck began two weeks earlier.
This happened with “the minor’s family reporting that Peck had molested the child over a six-month period.” The LAPD stated that the “lewd acts with the minor occurred approximately two years ago at Peck’s residence” while he was teaching them but did not provide the victim’s identity; it was later found to be Drake Bell.
In 2004, Peck pled no contest to two of the eleven allegations, which included oral copulation with a minor under the age of 16 and performing an indecent act on a 14- or 15-year-old.
He was eventually sentenced to 16 months in prison and ordered to register as a sexual offender. According to the filmmakers of the documentary “Quiet on Set,” several famous Hollywood actors wrote letters of support for Brian Peck.
Prior to Peck’s sentencing in 2004, several notable actors signed character letters for him, some of whom have since expressed regret. However, the 41 letters were sealed as part of judicial procedures.

Where Is Brian Peck Now?
After serving his term, Brian Peck was released in 2005. A year later, he was hired by Disney Channel to work on “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”, which starred Dylan and Cole Sprouse.
According to Variety, he did voiceover work for three episodes but did not interact with the cast or staff on-site. The publication said he was promptly terminated after Disney Channel learned of his conviction and replaced his voiceovers.
Even after being fired from Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” in 2006, Brian Peck appeared in a number of productions.
According to his IMDb biography, this includes 2008’s “Bedtime Stories,” 2015’s “Freaks of Nature,” and the 2012 series “Anger Management.”
