Tara Reade first made national news in 2020 when she accused President Joe Biden of sexual assault. Since then, she has been in many legal and online fights. Reade recently moved to Russia and has filed a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General (IG).
According to her complaint, she believes the FBI violated her First and Fourth Amendment rights over the years. She also requested an investigation into the FBI after “becoming the target” of a federal grand jury investigation and a California criminal investigation. This comes after she reportedly asked for FBI protection after receiving several death threats.
Her complaint also requests for several other things. It seems an investigation of FBI surveillance as she claims several subpoenas and warrants are targeting her. She also wants the FBI to stop her surveillance as she believes all her records are no longer private, with them reviewing them all the time.
Lastly, Reade wants the FBI to erase all records that they have on her. This is because she believes they are also monitoring her social media accounts and finances. Newsweek contacted the IG for comments, but his office has not responded. The FBI has also not released any statement yet.

Reade’s life got turned upside down after she accused the then soon-to-be president, Joe Biden, of assault in 2020. Before this, she served as an aide to Biden when he was still a U.S. senator representing Delaware in 1993. According to Reade, Biden pushed her against the wall in a senate corridor and penetrated her with his fingers.
Without a doubt, this made a lot of headlines when she came forward in 2020. According to some people, it is hard to believe her if she waited so long to say something, and coming forward while he was running for the presidency is suspicious.

Some people also do not believe her because she is a Republican and an avid supporter of Donald Trump. Therefore, they concluded that it was just a tactic used by the opposing team to bring down Biden. It also didn’t help when a court discovered that Reade lied several times under oath and fabricated some documents.
On the other hand, some people believe there is no timeline to speak up against sexual assault. Therefore, they applaud Reade for her courage in speaking up against the number one citizen in the country. They also sympathize with her for all the sacrifices she has had to make.

For example, Reade sought asylum in Russia in 2023, leaving her friends, family, and pets in America. This is because she felt very threatened and thought her life was in danger. However, she still fights for what she believes is “only the truth.”
She told Newsweek recently, “In my opinion, the U.S. has lost its democracy. I’m not being melodramatic, but it’s come out in different ways. It’s bigger than me. I frankly don’t know if I’ll get any justice in my own case, but I am hoping it will help others.”
She also reiterated that she is not giving up, saying, “I think the only way I can know [if I can gain legal traction] is by doing it and pushing it.”
