In a stroke of tragedy and ill fortune, a Tennessee woman, Autumn McClure, has died following a freak accident that involved her and her boyfriend.
The bizarre car accident that led to her losing her life occurred after the brake drum of another car flew off and smashed into her vehicle. According to reports gathered by local news, the 20-year-old victim was on the way to drop off her younger brother at daycare when the accident occurred.
What Happened To Autumn McClure
On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, McClure left her home in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, to never return. That morning, she left with her boyfriend for Ringgold, Georgia, where her brother’s daycare was situated. However, on their way, a truck’s brake drum flew through the vehicle’s windshield, striking the passenger side where McClure was seated.
According to Autumn McClure’s sister, Simone Matherly, on Facebook, the loose brake caliper struck McClure in the chest, killing her instantly. In addition, the Ringgold police chief spoke to Local 3 News, confirming the details of the incident.
According to the police chief, the collision occurred early on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, while they were driving south on I-75 from her home. A GoFundMe page created by her brother, Collin Le, stated that McClure died before emergency services could arrive.

The GoFundMe account was created to cover the arrangements and services for McClure’s funeral. As of August 30, 2024, the GoFundMe donation has gathered a total of $5,355 out of its $10,000 target.
What We Know About Autumn McClure
According to the GoFundMe page, Autumn McClure was born and raised in Soddy-Daisy and has lived there her whole life. She has four siblings: two brothers and two sisters. As a student at Soddy-Daisy High School, McClure graduated as the salutatorian of the Class of 2022.
Additionally, she received an associate degree from Chattanooga State Community College. Subsequently, McClure enrolled in Chattanooga State Community College’s Graphic Design Program until her death.
According to her brother Collins, McClure loved the beach and animals, particularly her pets. She also enjoyed going to concerts, paddle boarding, and hiking.

Tributes for Autumn McClure
When news of Autumn McClure’s death broke, several friends and family took to various social media platforms to express their grief. Simone Matherly, McClure’s sister, took to her Facebook account to eulogize her dead sister.
Matherly wrote, “Losing a sibling is never something you want to imagine, I’ve thought about it when we’re all grey and old but not like this.” “She would have been 21 next month. She was going to graphic design school,” she added. “She had so many plans and dreams. Myself and my family are in complete disbelief. It still doesn’t seem real.”
Additionally, McClure’s twin sister, Ivy McClure, took to Instagram to write a tribute to her sister. “I will miss you for the rest of my life. You have been my best friend since the day we were born,” Ivy wrote.
“I will never have enough words to describe just how much you mean to me, but I can say that I will always remember you for your kind heart, your humor, your intelligence, and your brightness.”

What Autumn McClure’s Boyfriend Wrote About Her
Autumn McClure’s boyfriend, Tyler Nunley, who was with her at the time of death and witnessed her death, took to Instagram. Sharing an image of McClure, Nunley wrote a lengthy Instagram caption.
“Autumn, you were the brightest, most spectacular part of my life. You made such an amazing impact on my life by helping me grow into the person I am today,” Nunley started. “You were the most amazing person I’ll ever meet. You were so sweet and always full of joy, and you made everybody else’s life better for it.”
“You were the love of my life, and I couldn’t imagine ever loving someone more than you. I’ll still hold you with me every day in my heart and in all the amazing memories we had together, and I hope you might watch over me and help me be strong and happy every day,” Nunley continued.
“I love you so much more than you could ever imagine. Thank you for being the incredible blessing that you were. I love you so much,” he added.
