A Spanish court declared the day after the body of a British boy, Jay Slater, went missing on the island of Tenerife about a month ago that the injuries he sustained in a fall in mountainous terrain were most likely the cause of his death.
The remains of Jay Slater, 19 years old, were found in a rocky area close to his last known location, the Canary Islands, and were identified using fingerprints, according to the High Court of Justice.
Jay Slater’s Mother Reports
The mother of British teenager Jay Slater, who has been heartbroken by the discovery of his death during the hunt for him in Tenerife, has expressed that her family’s “hearts are broken.”
A court official stated that “Fingerprinting confirms that the body belongs to Jay Slater and the death was caused by multiple traumas compatible with a fall in the mountainous area.”
How Jay Slater Got Missing
Following reports that Slater got lost while attempting to travel from one corner of the island to another. Weeks were spent by volunteers, family, friends, and Spanish officials looking for him.
Furthermore, it would have taken him almost eleven hours to walk from the northwest settlement of Masca to the southern Los Cristianos, where he had been staying. That morning, Slater called Lucy Law, a friend, in a panic, telling her he was “lost in the mountains, he wasn’t aware of his surroundings, he desperately needed a drink, and his phone was on 1%.”
The Worst News
The confirmation of her son’s death in Tenerife, according to Jay Slater’s mother Debbie Duncan, was “the worst news.” She continued, “I just can’t believe this could happen to my beautiful boy. Our hearts are shattered.”
An emotional vigil was held in his hometown of Lancashire, while in the UK, many came to pay their respects.

Where Was Jay Slater’s Phone Found?
The Spanish Civil Guard discovered his death in a hazardous and steep location. LBT Global, a charity that assisted Slater’s family, stated that it was close to the last known position of his cell phone. The last place Jay Slater’s phone was found was on a road next to a cafe in the Masca village.
A music festival was attended by Slater, an apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, in northwest England, the day before he vanished.
Lucy Law Made a Post
Slater was “always the happiest and most smiley person in the room,” according to Law’s Instagram post, and he would be missed “more than you know.”
“I’m sure you’ll be waiting for us all with your dancing shoes polished and ready,” Law wrote. “All of us adore you, buddy. Fly high.”

Jay Slater Family Takes Small Comfort
A charity chief who has spoken with Jay Slater’s mother claimed that the family has found “very little comfort” in the idea that he passed away quite immediately after suffering a serious accident.
LBT Global CEO Matthew Searle revealed that he had spoken extensively with 55-year-old Debbie Duncan. After which Spanish authorities determined her son’s injuries were compatible with an unintentional fall.

The 19-year-old’s body was discovered near the region where the rescue workers were looking. This is according to Mr. Searle, whose organization has been helping Mr. Slater’s family during this ordeal.
The CEO of the charity stated, “Chances are if he did fall from a height where we saw the recovery teams. Then it’s very unlikely he would have known much about it.” “That eliminates the terrifying dream that he collapsed and was left waiting for assistance that never materialized.
Tribute to Jay Slater
A memorial tribute to Mr. Slater has been released by the head teachers of the Oswaldtwistle elementary and secondary schools.
The heads of West End Primary School and Rhyddings High School, Andrew Williams and James McBride, respectively, issued the following statement. “We extend our sincere condolences to all of our former and current school community members who knew Jay Slater.
Continued Search After Canceling
Even though the search was officially canceled more than two weeks before Jay Slater was found, Tenerife’s civil guard maintains that it searched covertly.
The Spanish authorities announced on June 30, 2024, that they were continuing their inquiry. However, they canceled the search after 13 days of searching.

Civil Guards Searched Discreetly
However, they acknowledged that they had carried out an “incessant and discreet” search. In which the “natural space was preserved so that it would not be filled with curious onlookers” after locating Jay Slater’s body.
Additionally, authorities stated that the body was found in a “very inaccessible” place on Monday morning by Civil Guard mountain rescue personnel.
TikToker in Search for Jay Slater
A TikToker who complied with family requests to look for Jay Slater in Tenerife is perplexed by the body’s discovery in an area he thought had been properly examined.
However, only a few days after the apprentice bricklayer disappeared outside a secluded Airbnb in Masca. Callum Fahim, a Londoner, searched the steep ravines of the Spanish island with a search party.
TikToker Fears He May Have Walked Past Jay Slater’s Body
Shortly after an autopsy and fingerprints proved the teen’s body belonged to him. Mr. Fahim reported that he thought he might have passed the body “five or six times.”
When Jay Slater’s body is found weeks after he went missing, Callum Fahim says he feels like he “failed.”
