The Queens district in New York has been hit with a significant crime and prostitution wave, and the residents are upset. The district, which is under Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (aka AOC) jurisdiction, is now famous for harmful activities majorly by migrants. As the state continues to see an influx of illegal migrants, many have turned to crime to survive.
An outraged resident, Ramses Frías, spoke to “Fox & Friends” on Monday, narrating the situation. “We’ve become sort of this epicenter of crime and prostitution and illegal street vending. It’s taken over many streets,” he said.
“It goes from Corona, through Elmhurst, and into Jackson Heights. These three neighboring neighborhoods are really being hit hard with these problems.” Furthermore, Fox Digital got a video that Frías shot to show how much the community has deteriorated. The once-vibrant community is now a large, unsanitary environment.
There is trash overflowing everywhere, leading to unsavory and unhygienic conditions. In addition, the rate of prostitution has skyrocketed. Its main strip along Roosevelt Avenue has become quite popular for its high rate of prostitution.

The locals nickname the area “the market of sweethearts” for its numerous prostitutes. There are also many viral online videos advising prospective visitors on how to make use of sex workers’ services there.
According to research and photos by Fox News Digital, the sex workers usually stand outside storefronts soliciting men. When they get a “client,” they usually take them into makeshift brothels for sex. This problem has undoubtedly increased significantly over the past couple of months.
The sex workers operate all day, trying to make some money. As families walk by with their children or go shopping in supermarkets, they can see these women hanging around, waiting for a man to pick them up.
POLL — Should the U.S. Government Create a Path to Citizenship for Undocumented Immigrants?
As prostitution is illegal in New York, its residents are calling on AOC to do something about this problem. In response to Frías’ video, she issued a statement. “What we are seeing here is the result of anti-immigrant policies that deny immigrants proper work permits and vending licenses and drive them into the shadows of undignified conditions,” she wrote.
“This is just one way of many that anti-immigrant policies hurt all of us. Paths to citizenship and work documentation can solve this problem — but Republicans would rather block those so they can film people in their worst moments for views.”
Frías, a former Democrat, is now running for the State Assembly District 39 seat as a Republican. He hopes to win the election and, in turn, help his community. He also mentioned that he had never seen AOC in the neighborhood since the problem began last summer.

“She doesn’t campaign there; she’s never set foot there. I’ve never seen her on Roosevelt Avenue. This is a few blocks off from where I live. I live and breathe this every single day,” he said.
Furthermore, “I would gladly give her a tour. I would walk her through everything, let her see exactly how it is and how it’s affecting the quality of life for everybody there.” It is unclear if AOC will take him up on this offer or try to fix things her way.
