It is safe to say Hollywood actress Angela Bassett and her husband, Courtney B. Vance, have hacked the secret of a long, beautiful marriage. With two beautiful children and a marriage of over 25 years, the couple’s love is one to envy. They are both famous in the entertainment industry, so people sometimes wonder how their kids handle their joint fame.
According to Vance, their 18-year-old twins do not care about their fame. In an interview with People earlier in March, he detailed the lives of the twins Bronwyn and Slater. “I think their mom and dad are just a lot of people who have parents who are famous or infamous,” he said.
“But, when a Black Panther or something like that happens, or the honorary Oscar [their mother received], they were there, and Mommy made them stand up and be recognized. That’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of stuff. I think later on, it’ll hit them.”
When asked about their potential acting ambitions, he explained that there’s no pressure on them to follow in their parent’s footsteps. “I think they may find it in college, so I think that may happen,” the 63-year-old said. “They’re going to explore all kinds of things there, as we know.”

The couple initially struggled with having kids in the early stages of their marriage. However, they tried IVF, but it was unsuccessful. “I was devastated when it didn’t happen,” Basset once said. “I had to remain hopeful and resilient and say, ‘Okay, let’s do it again.'”
After a friend of hers tried surrogacy, and it was successful, the couple decided to try that. This method was successful, and Bronwyn and Slater Vance came into the world in 2006 via surrogacy.
“I had a dream about seven years ago that we would have twins. I didn’t know how it was going to happen,” she said then, explaining that being present at the birth was a fantastic experience.

“Just standing there together, holding each other with the realization that this is the moment that we’ve been working toward, praying for.” Their hearts were full, and their joy felt complete.
Now, 18 years later, both twins are thriving and happy. Their parents are also still quite successful in their acting careers. Bassett is an icon and a highly decorated actress in the industry. She boasts two Academy Awards, multiple Golden Globes and Emmys, and a dozen other honors.

The “911” actress also has an honorary Oscar award. With decades of acting experience, she is one of the top actresses in the movie industry today. Her husband, Vance, is also a stellar actor and producer. He has his accomplishments, and the couple are the definition of “black excellence.”
However, they tend to be pretty private about their marital lives. They don’t walk red carpets often and keep their personal lives out of the public eye. Is this the key to a long-lasting marriage in Hollywood?
