Since the premiere of America’s Got Talent season 19, fans have been calling for the removal of one of its judges. AGT judge Howie Mandel has been subjected to disapproval from fans over criticism. Consequently, ask for him to leave the show.

As the AGT comes back for a new season, it comes with new developments to attract more audiences and reinvent itself. In evidence of this, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Judge Simon Cowell made an unprecedented rule change.

Originally, a judge is permitted one golden buzzer per season, and Cowell was notorious for never having used it. However, after the performance of Liv Warfield, a singer from Chicago, Cowell used the golden buzzer. He described her performance as being hit in the face, but in a good way.

However, one of the changes fans of the show are most eager to see is the permanent removal of Mandel from the panel. While the audience has been subtle in their requests, things took a louder approach on the episode that aired on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

It began after the performance of the band Ashes and Arrows, who performed an original song of theirs titled “Born to Love.” The performance was met with positive reactions from the audience, some of which gave a standing ovation. However, things took a turn when it was time for the judge to review their performance.

The other judges Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara had given a yes to the band, with only Mandel giving a no. In response to his decision, the audience had called out against Mandel. Mandel had defended his action saying the band performance was more suited for a bar than an arena.

The other judges had disagreed with him and his opinion before the audience started to express theirs. However, the more he tried to explain his decision the louder the audience “boos” became. From Mandel’s expression, it was obvious he had not expected the reaction from the audience.

The disapproval did not just come from the live audience but also from fans who watched the show from home. Taking to respective social media networks, they expressed their disapproval of Mandel. A user on X wrote that the band deserved to be on the radio and telling Mandel to go suck a lemon.

Another user on X wrote that they were not certain why Mandel thought the band sounded like a “pub band.” Additionally, the user stated that the band was very good and sounded more like a workshop band to them. Another user had inquired if anything was wrong with Mandel.

The user added that Ashes and Arrow’s song was wonderful, and so was their harmony. They also state not only were the audience and other judges impressed, they were also presentable.

Other fans just decided to call for his removal from the show. One of the comments wrote “Howie is Heartless when it comes to music!! I really think he shouldn’t be a judge on AGT!” Another commentator wrote “@howiemandel worst AGT judge. He needs to go,”

Despite the outrage, no formal statement has been made by either Mandel or the band. America’s Got Talent is expected to keep running with episodes lined up as far as July 9, 2024.
