RFK Jr. and his wife Cheryl Hines show public love despite allegations of a scandal. The couple, who were photographed publicly embracing and kissing on October 17, have come under fire recently.
This comes after reports that Kennedy and a political reporter became intimate during his presidential campaign. The couple, who married in 2014, were spotted embracing, laughing, and kissing at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner on Thursday.
In a video released on X, Hines, 59, can also be seen touching her husband’s cheek with her finger. Other attendees include former President Donald Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and also current New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who was charged with federal crimes in September.
RFK Jr. and the Sexting Controversy
Just about a month ago, RFK Jr., 70, and Hines’ friendship came to light after claims surfaced that the former presidential candidate and New York magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi had gotten close during the campaign and exchanged inappropriate texts.
On September 19, the magazine announced that Olivia Nuzzi, 31, had been placed on leave. Afterward, Nuzzi admitted that she had personal contact with a former subject related to the 2024 campaign while reporting on it.

A source familiar with Hines told PEOPLE that she and Kennedy “barely spoke” in the two weeks after the scandal erupted. Another insider stated in early October that the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actress “has been talking about filing for divorce, but he’s begging her not to file.”
However, recently, the pair has presented a united front in public appearances. On October 10, two days after RFK Jr.’s mother, Ethel, died, RFK Jr. and Hines were spotted holding hands around the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port.

Cheryl Hines met Robert F. Kennedy Jr. through their common friend Larry David. Hines has known David since 2000, when they co-starred as spouses in the smash sitcom “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Cheryl Hines wedded Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in August 2014 at the renowned “Kennedy Compound” in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. According to People, Hines and RFK Jr. exchanged vows outside on a property originally held by John F. Kennedy, Jr.
The wedding also coincided with the Kennedy family’s annual summer reunion. Notably, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Larry David were among the celebrities in attendance.
Why Did RFK Jr Drop Out of the Presidential Race?
RFK Jr. suspended his presidential campaign and endorsed Donald Trump on August 23, 2024. He cited a lack of a viable path to victory as a primary reason for his decision. In a speech in Arizona, RFK Jr. expressed that after “deep prayer,” he decided to drop out of the race.
He also added that continuing his campaign would inadvertently benefit the Democratic Party. Kennedy additionally clarified that he was not officially quitting his campaign; rather, he was suspending it while preserving his name on the ballot in areas where he believed his candidacy would not be a spoiler.
RFK Jr. also claimed that he intends to remove them from the ballots in approximately ten battleground states. This is to avoid splitting votes, which could benefit the Democrats.
His support for Trump is based on shared concerns about free speech, the war in Ukraine, and what he calls “the war on our children,” which reflects his controversial views on vaccines and health policy.

Has Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Been Accused of Sexual Assault?
RFK Jr. has been accused of sexual abuse by Eliza Cooney, a former babysitter. She began working for his family in the late 1990s. Cooney accused RFK Jr. of making indecent approaches.
This includes touching her during a business meeting and, arriving shirtless in her bedroom, asking her to apply lotion on his back. These claims were revealed in a Vanity Fair piece released in July 2024.
In reaction to the charges, the former presidential aspirant rejected them as part of his “rambunctious youth,” saying, “I am not a church boy.” He also admitted to having “skeletons in [his] closet” during an interview.
However, shortly after the piece was published, he wrote Cooney a text message apologizing for any inconvenience he may have caused. He also claimed he could not recall the exact instances.
In reaction to RFK Jr.’s texts, Cooney called his apology “disingenuous and arrogant.” Futher questioning how someone could apologize for conducts they don’t remember.
