The authorities in Arkansas have charged the owner of an in-home daycare after two children are said to have consumed marijuana gummies while under her supervision, based on several accounts.
Officials said that parents of two separate kids disclosed that their children had marijuana in their bloodstream after visiting the daycare facility. Tamantha McPherson, 58, is accused of two separate counts of compromising the well-being of a minor.
She is also facing counts of introducing controlled substances into the body of another, as reported by local outlet Ozark Radio News and NBC affiliate KYTV. According to court documents, the parents of a two-year-old child discovered that their daughter was acting strangely.
After they collected her from a daycare in Yellville in April, the parents noticed something was off. According to reports, the parents, who stated that marijuana wasn’t available in their home, also noted that the daycare owner did not have permission to administer medication to their daughter outside parental approval.
Days later, a second set of parents told officials that their 15-month-old son was acting strangely shortly after they picked him up from daycare. His blood test from a pediatrician later came back positive for marijuana, and his parents also stated that there was no marijuana in their home.

During an interview with officials, Tamantha McPherson stated that she stores her THC gummies in her kitchen area — the same location she runs her daycare with approximately eight children. She also said that she transports the gummies from Missouri to Arkansas.

In the months following, four third graders in California have been hospitalized after ingesting edibles, and a mother in Memphis claims her 2-year-old child ate THC gummies at a daycare.
