Tallulah Willis has revealed for the first time that she’s been diagnosed with autism. She opened up about how the condition has “changed her life’” after she learned about it this past summer. Tallulah is the youngest of three daughters Bruce Willis shares with ex-wife Demi Moore. He also has two children with his current wife, Emma Heming Willis.

The “Die Hard” star retired from acting after he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. While talking about her condition, Tallulah Willis said that she had “known something was wrong for a long time,” even before her father was diagnosed.

The 30-year-old actress and daughter of Bruce Willis shared her health discovery on Instagram to her 402,000 followers amid her father’s ongoing battle with dementia.

Tallulah Willis’ Posts

The celebrity kid posted a throwback of her and her father, who has, over the last two years, been diagnosed with both frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. She posted a picture of the two on the red carpet at the premiere of the actor’s 2004 film “The Whole Ten Yards,” which then 10-year-old Tallulah Willis also starred in.

In the post, she wrote, “Tell me you’re autistic without telling me you’re autistic.” In the footage, Tallulah was rubbing her dad’s bald head repeatedly as he gave a red carpet-interview.

Tallulah’s older sister Scout responded to the video by saying the actress is “stimming” in it. Stimming is the repetitive performance of a certain physical movement, and it is a common behavior in autistic individuals.

The Diagnosis

This is the first time Tallulah has discussed her diagnosis. She explained she found out about it over the summer, saying it changed her life. This revelation comes a month after Tallulah gave a candid update regarding her recovery from an eating disorder.

The renowned actor’s daughter first opened up about her struggles with anorexia back in May 2023. Nine months later, Bruce’s daughter, with ex-wife Demi Moore, confessed she was “romanticizing unhealthy times” and wanted to share the update so that she would feel less alone.

How Did Her Family Handle This?

The Willis family has been rallying around Bruce after his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis. In addition to Tallulah’s health journey, she encouraged herself and her followers to remember that it is ok not to have everything figured out.

Bruce’s wife, with whom he shares daughters Mabel and Evelyn, said in September that it’s unclear what the actor knows about his condition. The Willis family has a way of coming together amid tough times that much is certain. So, Tallulah Willis is in great hands.

A Similar Autism Diagnosis

Like Tallulah Willis, Sia has revealed that she has autism. The singer and songwriter shared the information in an episode of the “Rob Has a Podcast,” which featured Carolyn Wiger. Notably, Wiger is a former contestant on the reality competition “Survivor.”

“I’m on the spectrum, and I’m in recovery and whatever,” Sia said. “There’s a lot of things.” During the podcast, Sia hailed Wiger, a drug counselor. She announced she would give the former contestant $100,000 to help her and her son.

Wiger expressed her gratitude and commended Sia for being so open. “Being in recovery and knowing which kind of neurology you might have or might not have. Also, I think one of the greatest things is that nobody can ever know and love you when you’re filled with secrets and living in shame,” Sia responded.

Sia’s Statement

Before opening up about her autism diagnosis, Sia previously disclosed she sought treatment for substance abuse. “When we sit in a room full of strangers and tell them our deepest,” the singer said. “Darkest, most shameful secrets. They laugh along with us.”

“Also, we don’t feel like pieces of trash for the first time; we feel seen for the first time in our lives for who we are,” she continued. “Then we can start going out into the world as operators just operating as humans.” Sia, 47 years old, seemed to imply that she recently became aware that she is on the spectrum.

“I realized it wasn’t ableism; it is ableism. I guess as well, but it’s nepotism because I can’t do a project without her,” Sia said. She then added, “I don’t want to. I wouldn’t make art if it didn’t include her.”
