During an interview on Sunday, May 19, 2024, there was an awkward rapport as the host and guest discussed the incident during the House hearing. CNN anchor Jake Tapper told Rep. Jasmine Crockett that she had replied to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s criticism of her look in a rather extreme manner by referring to her as bleached, badly built, with a butch physique.
In the interview, Tapper stated that Crockett had accepted her words, citing the publication of her statement on SWAG. He added that if Congresswoman AOC were to say that people should not criticize others for their appearance. Tapper further added that her claim that such an attack should not be replied to when she is doing the same thing.
Greene claimed on Thursday at a House Oversight Committee hearing that Crockett’s false eyelashes are interfering with her reading, a statement that Democrats tried to exclude from the official record but were unsuccessful in doing so. This led Crockett to question Republican Chairman James Comer about whether insulting another committee member’s appearance is acceptable.
Crockett told Tapper she had not mentioned Greene in her comments and requested further information on the decision. As Tapper has already pointed out, Crockett intentionally insults Greene’s appearance.

She answered him, saying that she had only sought to clarify the meaning of the ruling. She further added that she had just asked a question, and Greene’s name was mentioned in the inquiry.
While Tapper seemed to agree with the statement’s premise, he was adamant about proving that it pertains to Greene. He said while he understood that Crockett’s reply was 10,000 times worse.

She replied that, while her statement sounded lawyered, she had no regrets about it. She added that while she signed up to be a member of Congress, it doesn’t equate to her getting disrespected. She also said that while she is aware of the hostile work environment, MAGA makes it worse by disregarding rules and the law.
The House Oversight Committee sought to hold Attorney General Garland in contempt for not providing a tape of President Biden’s conversation. The conversation was between Biden and a special counsel.
“Are you aware of our purpose?” At one point, Crockett questioned Greene. “I think your artificial eyelashes are interfering [with] what you’re reading,” said the Republican from Georgia.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat, attempted to move a motion to remove Greene’s statements. He felt that such statements were not appropriate. The motion was denied as the chairman believed there was no violation or breach of rules.
Crockett said she would sell T-shirts with her criticism of Greene, with the proceeds going to support the election of House Democrats.
