Former president of the united states, Barack Hussein Obama, released a new memoir where he dished out amazing qualities about the influential women in his life.
The world knows former POTUS Barack Obama as a pacesetter and a force to reckon with in the political game. However, the 59-year-old would never have achieved those feats without the input of some important women in his life.
The politician released a memoir titled “The Promised Land,” where he exhausted pages stressing the contributions of these women in his success story.
In an interview ahead of the publication, Barack further stressed their impact on his life. He gave accolades to his wife, Michelle Obama, his daughters, Sasha and Malia, and his mom, Ann Dunham.
The father of two described his wife as an amazing public speaker. Going further, he described Sasha as “completely confident about her own take” on the world. Malia, on the other hand, was the buoyant one. About what they all had in common, Barack noted:
“They all have multiple badass qualities.”
Through the years, he admitted, their outstanding qualities helped shape him into the renowned personality he ended up becoming.
Barack’s long-anticipated memoir, published by Penguin Random House, explored other aspects, including some critical moments during his administration.
He also dwelled on some of the negative receptions he garnered as a black president in America. The politician went on to express his confidence in the new president-elect, Joe Biden, whom he believed would strive to fulfill the American dream.
Additionally, the 59-year-old reflected on some of his shortcomings as president, including his failure to pass the immigration reform.
The book sold over 800,000 copies on the first day of its launch, beating Michelle Obama’s “Becoming,” published in 2018. “Becoming” sold 725 copies on the first day of its release, making it the fastest-selling book that year.
Remarkably, Barack Obama is not the first former POTUS to release a memoir after his run in office. In general, past presidents tend to share details about their time in office, as well as highlights of other milestone moments they have encountered in life.
Previous presidents, including Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Harry Truman, Bill Clinton, and Richard Nixon, to list a few, published memoirs after leaving the White House.
However, Unlike others who launched their books within a few years of leaving office, Barack let about eight years elapse before releasing his. Since “A Promised Land” hit the shelves, many have tried to suggest possible reasons for the delay. But the former POTUS would be best-suited to clear any pending question concerning his preferred timeline.
Barack Obama’s memoir, launched on November 17, is now available for sale at $27 on Amazon.
