Karen Houghton, sister and only sibling of business mogul and manager Kris Jenner, died at age 65. According to TMZ, her death was due to natural causes, and she passed away on March 18. The family reported her passing to San Diego County officials shortly after.
On March 19, Jenner, three years older than her sister, took to Instagram to share an honorary post with her sister. She shared throwback photos of her and Karen as young adults. She also added images of Karen with Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Jenner’s late husband, Robert Kardashian.
Jenner started her caption, saying, “It is with the heaviest heart and deepest sadness that I share that my sister Karen passed away yesterday unexpectedly. My heart aches for my mom, MJ, and niece Natalie, and I pray that God guides us all through this difficult time.”
“Karen was beautiful inside and out. She was the sweetest, kindest, most sensitive and vulnerable, and so funny. She always felt grateful for her life and treasured her family and friends, especially her beautiful daughter,” she continued.

In addition, she wrote, “She holds such a huge part of my heart, and I cherish every single memory we have together. Karen’s passing is a reminder that life is so short and precious and tomorrow is never promised. We must tell those we cherish how much we love them. I love you, my beautiful sister.”
While the sisters didn’t see eye to eye for a while, it was clear that they shared a lot of love. They lived in San Diego with their mother, Mary Jo (MJ) Campbell, for most of their childhood. After their mother divorced their father, Robert Houghton, she raised both of them together.

When Jenner rose to fame as a “momager” and business mogul, she had a strained relationship with her sister. Karen noticed a massive shift in her sister’s attitude and personality. Therefore, they had a rocky relationship for some years.
Karen was also quite vocal about her opinions about her older sister and her divorce from Caitlyn Jenner. However, it seemed like the siblings buried the hatchet in 2019. Several pictures of them surfaced online with MJ, Natalie, and Kylie Jenner during the holidays.
Karen leaves behind a daughter and her only child, Natalie Zettel. The 26-year-old was born from her marriage to Mark Zettel. She also shared a heartfelt message on Instagram with a series of photos showing her close bond with her mum and their beautiful life.

She wrote, “Dear Mommy, I can’t believe you’re gone. This doesn’t even feel real. I keep hoping that I will get to hug you, kiss you, or hear your voice one last time. You were my best friend, my everything. You were the best mother a daughter could ever ask for, and I’m so grateful to have had a mother like you.”
She continued, “You were the most kind, sweet, loving, giving, and caring soul. You had the biggest heart. And I don’t know how to go on without you. It all happened so quickly, and I wasn’t ready for you to go. An angel was sent to heaven on March 18, 2024. I love you, Mommy, and you will forever be missed.”
