A man from Milwaukee faces allegations of child abuse following the discovery of severe injuries sustained by his infant, which he purported were caused by an iPad. Steven Nichols, aged 19, has been formally accused of one charge of child abuse and another of neglect by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
Legal records obtained by Fox News Digital detail that the infant’s mother became aware of her son’s injuries on March 11, after leaving him in Nichols’ care for the weekend, spanning from March 8 through March 10.
Upon returning home, the mother observed the baby as “fussy,” experiencing constipation and difficulties sleeping. Upon further inspection, the mother discovered bruising on the child and questioned Nichols regarding the injuries.
He asserted that the injuries were accidental, attributing them to an incident involving an iPad. According to court documents, Nichols purported that “an iPad he propped up on a formula container had fallen onto [the child].”

Hospital staff conducted a thorough examination and determined that the baby boy suffered from a range of injuries, including bilateral skull fractures, a significant brain injury, and femur fractures to both the left and right femur.
Additionally, he also sustained rib fractures, burns to the buttocks, and spinal bleeding. Bruises were discovered on various parts of the child’s body, including the abdomen, left inner thigh, groin, eye, and forehead.
Court documents reveal that medical professionals expressed skepticism about the possibility of an iPad causing such extensive injuries. They concluded that the injuries were inflicted deliberately rather than accidental based on their nature, number, and placement.

During police interviews, the child’s father made statements suggesting his involvement in the incident. He admitted that it “wasn’t unfair” to suggest that he had harmed his child but vehemently denied the allegations.
