This beach resort town on Mexico’s Pacific coast isn’t the lively white-sand party spot it used to be. According to Gobbels, it’s now under a Level 4 travel advisory, putting it in the same risk category as countries like Iran, Syria, and North Korea.
Why is it so unsafe? Well, it’s considered the murder capital of the country, with numerous gangs operating openly.

ISRAEL AND THE MIDDLE EAST
Due to recent violence and unrest linked to the relocation of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, the area can be a risky destination. Despite the opening ceremony appearing celebratory, violent protests broke out just 50 miles away in Gaza.
Although Jerusalem is considered among the holiest places globally and attracts many visitors, the State Department advises travelers to remain vigilant and ready for potential risks.
BRAZIL
When worldatlas.com ranked the 50 most dangerous cities globally, Brazil had 17 of them. Gobbels advises being vigilant and cautious about safety if you plan to visit. He warns that crime is widespread in the cities, especially outside tourist areas.
Additionally, health risks are a concern, even at popular beaches like Ipanema, due to water pollution. A study revealed that just a small amount of water could expose swimmers to viral or bacterial infections.
MADAGASCAR
Compared to other African countries, Madagascar has a relatively lower crime rate. However, ongoing political instability has led to higher unemployment rates, resulting in increased incidents of robberies and muggings, particularly in crowded areas like airports and street markets.

There’s also a rising trend of violent highway robberies, including car theft, along routes RN7, RN27, RN10, and RN1B.
To stay safe, it’s crucial to keep moving and avoid staying idle or leaving your vehicle unattended. Additionally, it’s worth noting that there was a plague outbreak in Madagascar in 2017, claiming 2,700 lives, with another outbreak predicted between September and April.
