Robin Yeartie, a former friend of Fulton County Ga., District Attorney Fani Willis, has contradicted the D.A.’s testimony and set the Donald Trump criminal case on fire. Willis is on the hot seat in a twist that has shifted the spotlight from the former President, who is the defendant.
Willis became a national figure after she led efforts to hold Trump accountable for attempts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 presidential election results. The case against the former President involved a 98-page indictment that listed 19 defendants and 41 criminal counts.
Willis and Trump had each fired shots at each other. While Trump called the D.A. “phony,” Willis told the media that she wasn’t afraid to square off against the billionaire or anyone at all, regardless of status. Willis soon became a hero in the eyes of Americans, eager to see the former President face punishment.
“Rather than abide by Georgia’s legal process for election challenges, the defendants engaged in a criminal, racketeering enterprise to overturn Georgia’s presidential election result,” Willis told reporters in 2023.
But all the efforts put into the case are about to go down the drain if recent developments are anything to go by.
Trump’s co-defendants include former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Trump’s lawyers Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman. But it was Mike Roman, a former Trump campaign official who seems to have attracted some ‘good luck’ to the former President.
Roman’s lawyer, Ashleigh Merchant, got wind of a romantic relationship between Willis and Nathan Wade, a prosecutor she had hired for the case.

Merchant has accused Willis of profiting from Wade’s involvement in the case. She also said that Willis was in a romantic relationship with Wade before she brought him in to lead the prosecution.
According to Merchant, the relationship was the basis upon which Willis hired Wade. Merchant also told the court that Wade sponsored various vacations for himself and Willis while their relationship lasted.
Willis has denied the claims. She stated that her relationship with Wade started in early 2022 after he came on board the case. She also said that the relationship ended in the Summer of 2023.
But a former friend of hers has come out to counter her testimony. Robin Yeartie had been Willis’s friend for a long time before they fell out in 2022. She was also an employee at the D.A.’s office.

Yeartie told the court that Willis and Wade began their relationship in 2019. She said she had seen the pair engage in “hugging, kissing, just affection” at the time.
Prosecutors have asked the court to disregard Yeartie’s testimony as she tries to get back at her former friend. Judge Scott McAfee may ask Willis to testify before the court. Wade had earlier testified that his relationship with Willis started after he got involved with the case.
If the court determines that Willis had lied about her relationship with Wade, it may bring the case to a close. That would be a painful end for Democrats who are desiring to see Trump pay dearly for his alleged sins.
