Former President Donald Trump made a bold statement concerning Joe Biden’s presidential nomination in the 2024 election. The incumbent president, Joe Biden, who is a member of the Democratic Party, is running for reelection. Meanwhile, his predecessor, Donald Trump, is running to be reelected for a second non-consecutive term.
Trump recently boasted that if Biden is not chosen as the Democratic nominee in the upcoming election, facing California Governor Gavin Newsom would be “easy.” During an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Trump shared his doubts about the possibility of Joe Biden being a Democratic nominee.
“Personally, I don’t think so,” he said. When further asked how he would fare against Gavin Newsom as the Democratic nominee, Trump didn’t hold back. He criticized the two-term governor who has strongly advocated for Democratic principles and played a significant role in Biden’s campaign.
“I’ll tell you what … he’s so much bullshit,” Trump said of Newsom. “His state is doing horribly. You look at the homeless problem; you look at the people leaving. You have companies leaving; they are all leaving for other locations.” “I think Gavin’s easy because California is a disaster,” he added.

On the other hand, California Governor Gavin Newsom has never shied away from criticizing Trump’s policies. These political opponents have always shown their political differences on numerous occasions. Throughout Trump’s tenure, Newsom consistently criticized the way he handled issues on immigration, healthcare, climate change, etc.
During a January interview with MSNBC’s Alex Wagner, Newsom discussed Trump’s potential candidacy. He was confident that Trump would be difficult to beat in a primary but not in general elections. “He can’t be beaten in a primary, but in a general election, I think he’s the most flawed candidate in my lifetime,” Newsom said of Trump. “He is damaged goods.”

President Joe Biden seems to be on track to securing the Democratic presidential nomination. He won the South Carolina primary, receiving over 96% of the votes. But, despite this electoral success, President Biden’s administration has faced several challenges. For one, it has low approval ratings, and his standing in some key states is unstable, which could affect his reelection bid.
According to polls, he runs even or behind Trump in several key states. A recent NBC News poll revealed that in a hypothetical 2024 general election matchup, former Trump held a five-point lead over Biden among registered voters. The poll also indicated that Trump gathered 47% of the support, compared to Biden’s 42%.

Trump was also asked about possibly running against former First Lady Michelle Obama. But he confirmed that the polls indicated he would easily defeat Michelle Obama in a potential matchup. “Look, I’ve seen polls where she doesn’t do well. She may do well, but I’ve seen polls where I beat her easily,” Trump claimed.
Michelle Obama previously dismissed the idea of running for president, stating that she had no intention of seeking political office. On the other hand, Gavin Newsom has continued to show his support for Joe Biden’s candidacy and will stand firm behind the current president.
