According to Nia Guzman, she and Chris Brown met five or six years before they had a child together. Mutual friends reportedly introduced them.
She revealed in a candid interview in 2016:
“We had mutual acquaintances. That’s how we met, probably five or six years ago. And it was always just a friendship, and it was just nothing more, nothing less. It was just a friendship. And not until the custody issues were raised we stopped talking, and negativity started.”
She added: “We both went through breakups, we both dealt with them, we both checked on each other throughout everything going on. And then to be here now is just really… is just really crazy, and it’s really hurtful. I don’t know how to get back to the way we were until time can heal that.”
What Happened Between Chris Brown and Nia Guzman?
Nia Guzman never had a confirmed relationship with Chris Brown. However, they had a short affair while the singer was in a relationship with Karrueche Tran, his on-again-off-again girlfriend.
He started dating Tran in 2011 after being charged with two felonies for beating his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. His relationship with Tran was rocky at best, and they broke things off several times before their ultimate split.

Nia Guzman’s Nasty Custody Battle With Chris Brown
After Chris and Nia Guman welcomed their daughter, they faced new, even more nasty problems, including co-parenting. They initially hashed out child support, with Guzman getting up to $2,500 monthly and joint custody. However, when their daughter, Royalty, was 2, Guzman attempted to change the terms of their agreement.
According to reports, Guzman made several requests about the custody of Royalty. The single mother wanted full control and monitored visitation. She also wanted to deny Chris’ mom the right to see Royalty and make Chris submit to drug tests.
Unfortunately for Guzman, the court denied every single one of her requests. The two were also commanded to maintain joint custody, with Chris getting Royalty 12 days a month.
When Guzman filed the legal documents requesting a change in custody, the judge made Chris pay her $20k. This was so she could hire a lawyer. However, after her loss in court, the judge decided she wasn’t entitled to the money and made her pay it back.
Guzman and Chris shelved their problems two years later and started working on a better child support deal. The deal included Chris buying Guzman a new house and paying over $100k for her legal costs.
