Alyssa Jane Ashton is the offspring of the late American pop artist Leslie Carter and her former spouse Mike Ashton. She was born on April 1, 2011, in Ontario, Canada.
Alyssa’s mother, Leslie, was the younger sister of famous singers Nick Carter and Aaron Carter. Despite losing her mother at a very young age, Alyssa has grown up and is currently 11 years old as of January 2023.
It’s important to note that she doesn’t often make public appearances despite being related to famous musicians Nick and Aaron Carter. Hence, no one knows what she’s up to these days.
Who Was Alyssa Jane Ashton’s Mother, Leslie Carter
Leslie Barbara Ashton (née Carter) was an American pop singer born on June 6, 1986. She started her musical journey with the single “Like Wow!” in collaboration with DreamWorks Records in 2001. The single appeared on the Shrek soundtrack and reached #15 on the Hot 100 chart.
Sadly, her debut album with the label was canceled. In 2006, Leslie formed her band, The Other Half, which included musicians like Mike Ashton, DJ Porter, Casey Clowater, Paul Davidson, and Dave Thompson. She also appeared on the family reality show “House of Carters,” documenting the family’s attempt to reconnect.
Unfortunately, Leslie Carter struggled with depression and mental illness throughout her life. She had also battled addiction and was planning to go to rehab with the help of her brother Aaron before her death.
Who Is Alyssa Jane Ashton’s Dad, Mike Ashton?
Alyssa’s dad, Mike, is not just any ordinary guy. He is a professional drummer who has played with some of the best in the music industry. He and Leslie first crossed paths through their shared love for music. Mike was a part of the band The Other Half, which Leslie founded.
Mike keeps a low profile and prefers to stay away from the media, especially after the tragic death of Leslie. It’s not entirely clear what he does for a living these days. However, he made headlines in 2019 when he was granted a restraining order against Aaron Carter, his former brother-in-law.
Although little is known about Mike’s personal life, we know he has moved on and is living a happy married life with his second wife, with whom he shares children. How Did Alyssa Lose Her Mother?
Alyssa never got the chance to experience the love of her mother. Leslie passed away on January 31, 2012, at 25. The cause of death was an overdose of prescribed medication at her father’s residence in New York.
Leslie was suffering from depression and had been taking medication for it. Her brother, Aaron, had offered to pay for her treatment, but sadly, she passed away before receiving it.
Leslie’s death was a shock to her family and friends. She had reportedly been disappointed with her career and struggled with mental health issues. Despite being happy for her successful siblings, Leslie had hoped to become famous like them.
Her funeral was held on February 6, 2012, with around 60 mourners in attendance. Her older brother, Nick Carter, did not attend the funeral as the family blamed him for Leslie’s death. She was buried in Chautauqua Cemetery.
Another Death in the Carter Family
Years after Leslie died, the Carter family suffered another loss. Alyssa Ashton’s uncle Aaron had a tragic end to his life at just 34 years old. He was found unconscious in his bathtub by a caretaker at his Lancaster, California home on November 5, 2022.
Despite efforts to revive him, Aaron was already dead. His death shocked his fans and the entertainment industry.
Sadly, Aaron’s efforts to escape the maze of emotions he was in were in vain. His family and ex-fiancé have spoken out about the circumstances of his death. It is believed that Aaron’s cause of death was a drug overdose, as there was no trace of water in his lungs.
His death was a significant blow to his loved ones, especially Alyssa, who was ten years old at the time. But the Carters will continue to remember him and his legacy.
