When 50 Cent released his debut album “Get Rich or Die Tryin” in 2003, he became one of the leading figures in the rap game. Music changed his life after living most of his early life on the streets and around crime and drugs.

The album produced by music greats Eminem and Dr. Dre was a huge commercial success selling 9 million copies. It featured hit singles like “Wanksta” and “In Da Club,” which had solid hooks and became crossover pop hits.

Also, his “gangsta” rap style appealed to many people, and so did his appearance, looking muscled and tattooed. In addition, most of his lyrics stem from real-life experiences, which makes them relatable to most people.

In 2005 he released his second album, “The Massacre,” which became another hit. Equally like his first album,  50 Cent stuck to his rap style of drugs, crime, and sex and the album featured hits like “Candy Shop” and “Just a Lil Bit.”

However, “The Massacre” proved to be 50 Cent’s last massive successful album as subsequent releases like “Curtis” in 2007 and “Before I Self-Destruct” in 2009 only achieved modest sales.

50 Cent’s Movie Career

With his days as a leading music artist behind him, 50 Cent transitioned into movies. The rapper had long been interested in making and appearing in films. So in 2003, he founded a production company called “G-Unit Films.”

However, the company got disbanded after 50 Cent partnered with Randall Emmett to create another company called “Cheetah Vision.” In 2015, the rapper made his on-screen debut in the movie “Get Rich or Die Tryin,” synonymous with his album title.

The film served as a semi-biopic for 50 Cent, and it drew inspiration from the rapper’s personal life and Eminem’s 2002 film “8 Mile.” Although the movie received mostly negative reviews from critics, the rapper’s acting was quite good.

Since then, 50 Cent has made a name for himself by appearing and producing multiple successful movies. Below we take a look at five of his highest-rated movies.

Power Book IV: Force (2022)

“Power Book IV: Force” is the third spinoff in the “Power” movie franchise. It follows one of the fan’s favorite characters Tommy Egan, played by Joseph Sikora, who leaves New York after the death of his partner Lakeisha Grant and his sworn brother James St. Patrick.

When the show premiered on February 6, 2022, it made history the most-watched series premiere in network history, drawing in 3.3 million viewers in the United States alone.

The series, which 50 Cent executively produces, has been renewed for a second season. On Rotten Tomatoes, “Power Book IV: Force” had a rating of 100%.

Spy (2015)
