A 60-year-old Ohio teacher was critically injured in a brutal attack she faced at the hands of a student. It affected her so much that she needed to undergo brain surgery. And now the kid is in a world of trouble.
According to Colerain Township police, they responded to the assault on the Colerain High School campus just after 2 p.m. Thursday. They found the student in the lobby of the school’s career center.
He was suffering from what seemed to be a self-inflicted wound to his head. Cops decided that the teen was seemingly under the influence of an unknown substance and was reportedly hallucinating.
Reports claim the student started acting “distraught” before the attack and had injured another 15-year-old student by grabbing him and pinching his neck.

Paramedics moved the teacher to a local hospital. Since then, she has had to undergo major surgery to remove her skull cap to accommodate brain swelling and prevent further damage. Fortunately, the other student he attacked did not require medical care.
According to a statement released Friday by the Northwest Local Schools and Colerain Township, her attacker is facing charges of felonious assault. He was treated at a hospital before they took him to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
The unfortunate teacher is not the first in the US to endure such an ordeal. In recent years, teachers have become exposed to more risks on the job. 2023 alone saw 37 school shootings resulting in injuries or deaths.

Last January, a 6-year-old student in Virginia shot his first-grade teacher. Abby Zwerner, 26, eventually sued Newport Public Schools for $40 million afterward. She claimed that administrators had ignored obvious signs that the boy was violent and showing behavioral issues. They also overlooked reports of him having a gun on him at school that day.
Another unforgettable occasion happened in February 2023 when a Florida teacher’s aide faced a violent attack from a student for taking the boy’s video game console. The teen reportedly lunged at the aide, knocking her unconscious. Then he started kicking and punching her about the head and back approximately 15 times before the tirade ended.
The 17-year-old boy faced charges of aggravated battery on a school board employee, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison. Unfortunately, it gets worse. In 2021, schools issued warnings about a TikTok trend that encouraged young students to “slap your teacher.”

Actual searches for the trend on the platform didn’t produce significant results. However, TikTok put up a message about the challenge, calling it an “insult to teachers everywhere.” Users also got reassurance that they would get rid of any related content.
Nevertheless, some reports of assaults related to the apparent challenge did surface. One incident saw an 18-year-old Louisiana student arrested for attacking a 64-year-old disabled teacher. A middle school student in Massachusetts also faced consequences for allegedly hitting a teacher as part of the “trend.”
