It seems the Aces pursuit of a third uninterrupted victory might be receiving less attention due to the arrival of a promising team, with the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark leading the way. She achieved remarkable success during her senior season at Iowa, setting all-time scoring records and guiding her school to consecutive national tournament participation.
The praise on her portfolio and the discussion surrounding Caitlin has shifted towards analyses and evaluations in the media, focusing on the reasons behind her prominence rather than the positive impact she has had on the game.
During an interview with The Associated Press, Wilson noted that the sharpshooter’s growing popularity had a racial element to it. She believes it is a yardstick, and many individuals might argue that it’s not about color. But personally, that’s how she perceives it.

She is certain that black women can excel at what they do, but perhaps that’s something that most individuals are unwilling to admit. They don’t see it as attainable, irrespective of how much effort and action she puts in as a black woman.
Our efforts will continue to be disregarded and overlooked, she added. It infuriates me when individuals claim that race is not a factor because it most certainly is.
Caitlin’s endorsement contract with Nike following the WNBA Draft raised concerns regarding why she secured one without any prior professional knowledge, whereas Wilson did not receive a similar contract, even though players such as Breanna Stewart and Elena Della Donne were getting one.

Nike revealed on Saturday, May 11, that it would be releasing a shoe designed specifically for her. Wilson also inked a sponsorship contract with Gatorade. Before the official announcement of the contract, Wilson shared her thoughts with the Associated Press.
Caitlin had a wonderful time in her school year, bagging several awards. She became the first-division highest scorer with three thousand nine hundred and fifty-one points. Among the awards were the Wooden Award, Naismith Award, and Women’s AP Player of the Year Award consecutively.
The difference between Wilson and Clark is that, unlike Wilson, Clark already had connections with big firms while in school. According to the report from Sponsor United, Clark had over nine contracts between the space of 1 year, February 2023 – February 2024, and she wasn’t listed among highly ranked female athletes.

Statistics also revealed the list of other highly ranked five athletes who had NIL contracts with Angel Reese of Chicago Sky at twenty-six, Flaujae Johnson at eighteen, Alex Glover, Volleyball star 4, and Cameron Brink of Los Angeles Spark at twenty-one, amongst others.
According to Wilson, she sees Angel Reese as a powerful challenger, which makes the tournament interesting. There is a demand for more talented and more skilled individuals.
