In 2018, Cowell joined many industry stars with their names immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The famous TV arrived at his dedication ceremony with multiple fans waiting to welcome him. Cowell then took the microphone to share his thoughts, joking:

“Why did this take so long?” And offered: “If anyone says fame is a bad thing, I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s the best thing in the world.” 

The famous TV judge also became emotional while honoring his friends and parents at the event. He also thanked his family and colleagues from all over the entertainment world. Meanwhile, some of the notable guests at the event included NBC’s Bob Greenblatt, producer Ken Warwick and the first-ever “Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson.

Simon Cowell Almost Lost His Walking Ability

In August 2020, news broke that Cowell was hospitalized after sustaining injuries from a bike accident. A spokesperson for the “America’s Got Talent” judge told reporters Cowell fell while testing his new electric bike in the courtyard at his house in Malibu. 

However, Cowell would later reveal that the situation was much worse than he first feared. As a result, the popular judge underwent a six-hour surgery. Still, in his first interview since the incident, Cowell explained:

“It could have been a lot worse. When I saw the X-ray, I really nearly smashed my spine to pieces, so I literally wouldn’t (have) been able to walk.”

Cowell noted that the crash was sudden and knew he’d broken his back immediately. He further explained the situation, saying:

“You’re not supposed to get up, but I made myself kind of get carried into my bedroom, which is right there at the end of the house, and I’m lying there and I’m kind of passing out. I mean, it was just was surreal.”

Thankfully, the situation didn’t play out as badly as it could, and Cowell recovered quite well. He also thanked his son Eric and wife Lauren Silverman for their part in nursing him back to health.
