Whether or not vaccines are within reach, staying safe from the coronavirus is pertinent in remaining healthy during these trying times.

1. UNDERGO A COVID-19 TEST

This first tip is as important as checking and servicing vehiclar engine parts before embarking on a journey. While the coronavirus is on the rampage, there is no telling who is a carrier unless the symptoms become prevalent.

Hence, a periodic COVID-19 test is important, at least three days before the journey. If the test comes out positive, cancel the trip altogether and seek medical help. In case of a negative test, ensure to observe all other protective measures during the trip.

2. DO AN IN-HOUSE CLERKING BEFORE HITTING THE ROAD

Another life-saving precaution required to curb the prevalence of the coronavirus when travelling is undergoing some personal interrogative sessions.

Answering questions like, how prevalent is the spread of the virus in your area? How at risk are you of coming down with severe complications from an illness? Have you had contact with an infected person? Do you live with someone who is at a high risk of developing complications from severe illnesses?

If your answer to any of these questions is in the affirmative, perhaps rethinking the trip is best, unless in cases where it is possible to receive a jab of the vaccine beforehand.

3. OBSERVE COVID-19 SAFETY REGULATIONS AT EVERY POINT DURING TRAVEL

Nothing beats abiding by safety regulations when it comes to staying safe from the novel coronavirus. Wearing nose masks, the use of hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol, regular hand-washing and avoiding crowded spaces are some of these useful measures.

Additionally, always endeavor to maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet from everyone you meet on the trip. Avoid contact with sick persons, regular touchpoints, and your nose mask as much as possible.

It is also important to avoid touching the face, especially the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears, as these are possible entry points for the virus into the body system.

The CDC has put in place several safety measures and directives for safe travel, be it by air, road, or sea. Likewise, the body also introduced various directives for care homes, hotels, and other temporary lodging facilities to follow to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

Therefore, before checking into any on-the-road accommodation, ensure they adhere strictly to these safety measures. Some of these measures include adequate ventilation, regular disinfection of living space and beddings, putting measures in place to promote social distancing, and the use of face masks by all the staff.

Where possible, discontinue all room services, including routine cleaning and food serving by the hotel attendants to minimize contact with others. Also, remember to clean the regular touchpoints in the room throughout your stay.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK LOCAL RESTRICTIONS

Due to the pandemic, travel restrictions in various regions undergo major changes within seconds. Therefore, it is pertinent to check out if any restrictions are in place in your region of destination to avoid unforeseen disappointments.

Also, requirements vary between cities. While some require constant use of face masks, others call for the isolation of all new arrivals for a period of 14 days before joining the community. Encountering such protocols unexpectedly may spell doom for the overall goal of the trip.

Putting these tips into practice when traveling would help save time, money, and one’s health while facilitating man’s fight against the deadly coronavirus.
