Tiffany Haddish allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel on Thanksgiving weekend and has taken a plea deal. The “Girls Trip” actress pleaded no contest to reckless driving on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Haddish made a surprise appearance in a Los Angeles courtroom and accepted a plea deal.
Consequently, the court dismissed her two misdemeanor DUI charges in favor of a reckless driving conviction. The hush-hush hearing entered the calendar two weeks before Haddish was due for a pre-trial appearance on February 14. According to prosecutors, the 44-year-old actress pleaded no contest to reckless driving.
As a result, the court ordered her to serve one year of probation and 40 hours of community service. Following the court’s decision, Tiffany Haddish’s attorney, Alex Spiro, commented on the ruling to media outlets. “Ms. Haddish has agreed to a simple vehicle code violation (not driving under the influence, which has been dismissed),” he said.
“And looks forward to this being behind her.” Aside from the community service and probation, the “Haunted Mansion” actress will enroll in several programs. The court ordered her to join Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s Victim Impact Program.

In addition, Tiffany Haddish will have to attend a HAM (Hospital and Morgue) Program, an SB1176 driver’s education program. Also, she will pay standard fines and fees. The court also gave her a “Watson” warning, a legal document those with DUls must sign.
It states that they know the harmful or deadly impact their actions can cause. Furthermore, the court ordered Haddish to provide proof of completion to the clerk’s office. As of now, the actress has no future scheduled court appearances.

The plea deal stems from her arrest in Los Angeles over last year’s Thanksgiving holiday. Haddish allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel of her Tesla. Afterward, officers with the Beverly Hills Police Department found the comedian at approximately 5:45 a.m. on November 24, 2023.
They charged her with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol. Also, they booked her for a misdemeanor count of driving with .08% blood alcohol content. Tiffany Haddish performed at The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood the night before the incident.

She made an appearance in celebration of the venue’s 43rd annual free Thanksgiving feast for the community event. After her release that same day, Haddish performed at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, California. While performing in Long Beach, the famous actress poked fun at the situation.
“I had prayed to God to send me a man with a job, career, preferably in a uniform,” she stated. “And I answered my prayers.” In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on November 27, 2023, Haddish spoke about the incident. She said the situation “will never happen again.”
The “Nobody’s Fool” actress said her Tesla parked itself after she fell asleep. In addition, she claimed to be in “good spirits” following the incident. Haddish also told the outlet, “I’m going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries.”
