What Happened to Amanda When She Started Her Career?
Everyone who has a job can admit to making some mistakes while striving to get better at it. Amanda Renner is no different. She once revealed her biggest on-camera disaster when she was featured on GOLF’s Subpar Podcast.
She said it happened in 2011 when she was covering her first Tour Championship. At the time, Renner was conducting live post-round interviews. She stated that if players were going to talk to the media after their rounds, she was one of the last stops, so she did not expect to get many of the big names coming around.
However, as fate would have it, she got at least two on this day — Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson. Of course, Renner was prepared. Still relatively new on the job at the time, Renner said she often prepared too much and for the Tour Championship, she had 30 index cards — one for each player — filled with useful subjects she might want to broach.
When the time to talk to Johnson and Mickelson came, her index card failed her. With Johnson, she made the mistake of saying it was his third President’s Cup when it was his first. Then with Mickelson, she struggled to handle herself because she was reeling from her mistake.
It was another failure, and Renner had a meltdown in her car afterwards. It was also the last time she used index cards.
The beautiful journalist is not the only famous face who has made a mistake like that. Other famous for their errors on live TV include Patti LaBelle, Troy Kotsur, Jamie Foxx, Warren Beatty, and Kendall Jenner.
