Former President Donald Trump and ex-U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley are contending over who could beat President Biden in the 2024 elections. Haley says she’s the better choice, but Trump isn’t buying it. Trump quickly shot down Haley’s claim, calling her a “loser” with no credibility. He claimed she was lying about being a stronger contender.
“It’s a lie. She knows it’s a lie,” Trump said during a phone interview on “Fox & Friends” with Lawrence Jones and Brian Kilmeade on Tuesday. He played down polls that suggested that Haley would fare better against Biden.
“We are winning against Biden in every single poll, and everybody knows it, whether it’s the New York Times or any of the polls taken over the last three months. So she is misrepresenting that fact, and it’s fine. It won’t matter because I think we will win every state tonight.”
Despite having only one primary victory to her name, the co-contender is not backing down. “If you look at the general election polls, Joe Biden and Donald Trump are even. There was a Fox poll today; he was up by two. That’s still a margin of error,” Haley said during a Fort Worth, Texas, campaign event. “Between last week’s poll. In this week’s poll, I defeat Joe Biden by up to 18 points.”

Trump stuck to his position on Haley. He also referred to her reversal from her earlier pledge not to run against him. He warned that she had “no path” to victory in her 2024 campaign. “She said she’d never run against me, and she did. She said she beat Ron DeSantis… in Iowa and didn’t,” Trump said.
“There’s no path to Nikki. I wish Nikki the best, but she stood up many times and said, I’d never run against our president. He was a great president. I would never run – and then she ran,” he continued. “Those things you don’t like to see. You like to see truthful people.”

Meanwhile, Haley has fired back at Trump’s criticism. She stressed that her decision to run against him was not personal. “I campaigned for a lot of governors and a lot of House and Senate members, and after we lost all of those elections, we decided to jump in because we lost in 2018,” Haley said later during “Fox & Friends.”
“This is not personal. This is about the fact that we have to win,” she continued. “We can want to change the country all day long. But if we can’t win an election, we can’t do any of that.” Ainsley Earhardt, co-host of “Fox & Friends,” questioned Haley about her earlier commitment to support the eventual Republican nominee.

“That’s not a decision I must make today,” Haley said. The convention isn’t until July. We’ve got 16 states voting today, and so we want those 16 states to vote… I haven’t heard Trump pledge that he would support me if I won, so I don’t know why I have to go and pledge to him that I would help him if he wins.”
“I get to do what I want, Ainsley,” she continued. “If he refuses to sign the pledge, I don’t have to go forward, but I’ll decide on my own.”
