Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively did not attend this year’s Golden Globe Awards even though Reynolds’s film “Deadpool & Wolverine” was nominated in the category of Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
Reynolds chose to boycott the event, and many suspect it is because of the beef his wife is having with her “It Ends With Us” co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Hugh Jackman, another integral star of the film, also did not show up at the ceremony.
The couple’s absence from the prestigious awards has sparked curiosity among fans. Many are eager to know why they decided to boycott the event. Here’s all we know.
Why Did Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Skip the Golden Globes?
There is a very high chance Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively avoided attending this year’s Golden Globes because of her ongoing feud with Baldoni. Feud is simply a friendly way to put it; it is very likely that Lively hates his guts if the number of accusations she has leveled against him have any truth to them.
To truly understand why Lively is going after Baldoni, why she allowed their enmity to stop her and, by extension, her husband, from enjoying the Golden Globe Awards this year, you need to understand what has transpired between them.

While Baldoni has denied most of these things, Blake Lively remains adamant they happened and she is even taking legal action.
What Happened Between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni?
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni worked together on “It Ends With Us.” However, she shocked many when she sued the director four months after its release, alleging sexual harassment and accusing him of leading a coordinated effort to destroy her professional reputation during the film’s rollout.
Lively filed the legal complaint in late December 2024. She noted that Baldoni joined hands with the likes of Melissa Nathan—a crisis PR specialist once hired by Johnny Depp—to do it.
Some believe that Depp was able to manipulate the truth and weaponize the public’s distaste for complex, independent women to win his 2022 defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard because he had someone like Nathan in his court.
They allegedly painted her as abusive and unstable in a media war similar to the one Baldoni is now waging against Lively. While Baldoni has used various publicity and social media strategies to tweak the narrative around the film in his favor, Lively has continued to stand behind her allegations.
Blake Lively Fought To Protect Herself and the Other Women
Blake Lively’s complaint revealed the toxic work environment that Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath created while shooting.
In early 2024, after returning to the set of “It Ends With Us” following the guild strikes of the previous year, Lively scheduled a meeting with Baldoni and several of the film’s producers, asking that Baldoni and Heath stop their inappropriate behaviors, which included improvising kissing scenes.
She wanted them to stop “showing nude videos or images of women, including producer’s wife, to BL and/or her employees.” Also, she requested the presence of an intimacy coordinator on set. According to legal documents she filed, she accused Baldoni and Heath of invading her privacy by entering her makeup trailer uninvited while she was undressed.

Baldoni reportedly sought Nathan’s help after finding out that Reynolds had blocked him on Instagram. He quickly enlisted her help hoping to get in front of Lively’s on-set complaints going public.
As far as Baldoni’s legal team is concerned, the suit is “shameful” and full of “categorically false accusations.” However given her drastic actions, such as boycotting the Golden Globe Awards, as well as rumors floating around about Baldoni and Heath, one is forced to consider how much truth there is in the allegations she is making.
