An 11-year-old boy, A’Rhyan Anderson, was on his way to a school bus stop when a pack of dogs attacked him. According to the Clinton Police Department, the attack occurred at about 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14. According to multiple reports, the dogs bit him over 60 times.
Authorities say Anderson was about 100 yards from the bus stop when four dogs rushed on him. The canines reportedly mauled the 11-year-old until neighbors shooed them off. Officers credited a neighbor of the boy who scared away the dogs.
Afterward, neighbors called the police, and responders brought Anderson to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. However, the police noted that the child had “very serious injuries” from the attack. Amy Lowe, the injured boy’s mother, said her son is in stable condition, but it’ll take some time before he fully recovers.
“It’s traumatizing,” she said. “I’m traumatized. I’m sure my son is traumatized.” While speaking to media outlets, Lowe noted that Anderson was weak after the attack. “He was pretty much weak, out of it (and) clinging,” Lowe said. In addition, she stated that her son received 60 bites from the pack of dogs during the attack.

Therefore, she said Anderson would stay sedated for a couple of days because he was still in a lot of pain. Also, Lowe noted that the 11-year-old has more surgeries to go through. Lowe’s neighbor, Natasha Mims, who scared off the dogs, also spoke to local news outlets after the attack.
Mims said she knew the boy needed to help because there were four big dogs. “The dogs really looked like they had eaten him alive,” Mims said. “I saw nothing but bones. I saw that they had eaten him up really bad.” After seeing the boy’s condition, Mims said she called 911.

In addition, Mims said Anderson laid on his back, and the pack of dogs bit off his leg. She claimed the canines ate off the flesh of the boy’s leg when she turned up. Mims noted that Anderson was too weak from the attack to move his body. She said, “I asked him to turn over to look at me, and he said, ‘I can’t move.'”
Lowe, who wasn’t at the scene of the incident, said she got a call from Mims about the incident. She said she was dropping her 6-year-old child off at elementary school when the dogs attacked her son. “Natasha was calling me on (Facebook) Messenger screaming and hollering, ‘Red! Red!'” Lowe said.

Furthermore, the injured boy’s mother called for justice for her son. “I want the dogs put down,” Lowe said. “The owners of the dogs must be held responsible. I want justice for my son.” Following the incident, the police said they euthanized two from the pack of dogs.
However, the other two escaped. Also, the authorities have yet to identify the owner of the dogs. Also, a family friend launched a GoFundMe to help pay for the boy’s recovery. According to the crowdfunding page, Lowe has four other children, and Anderson’s nickname is “Red.”
So far, the GoFundMe has raised nearly $500 out of its $10,000 goal.
