The whole country went into a frenzy on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, as President Joe Biden acknowledged the results of the elections held that day and MAGA’s loss. Why were the vast majority so happy, and what does it signify for the state’s future?

It was a significant victory for abortion rights in Ohio. The President took to social media to share his excitement and joy on the outcome of the elections. On his official account on the social media site X, formerly Twitter, he expressed his satisfaction with the final results of the polls.

He wrote: “Across the country tonight, democracy won and MAGA lost.”

The acronym “MAGA” refers to the “Make America Great Again” slogan associated with former President Donald Trump, an avid Republican. This caused a bit of drama online as happy citizens took it as an opportunity to “troll” the former President for the loss of his party’s candidate.

The results, which saw wins for the Democrats and a victory for abortion rights in Ohio, were quite pleasing for the majority of the citizens of the state. It also saw Democrats rack up notable wins in the Kentucky governor’s race and the Virginia legislature. He continued his post by writing, “Voters vote. Polls don’t. Now, let’s win next year. Donate to join us.”

The abortion laws were put in place earlier in 2023, much to citizens’s dismay, and it is understandable why they were so happy with the results on Tuesday. In a separate post, the President had a lot to say concerning the victory of the rights of its citizens on abortion.

Still on X, he wrote,

“Tonight, Americans again voted to protect their fundamental freedoms — and democracy won. In Ohio, voters protected access to reproductive health in their state constitution. Ohioans and voters across the country rejected attempts by MAGA Republican elected officials to impose extreme abortion bans that put the health and lives of women in jeopardy, force women to travel hundreds of miles for care, and threaten to criminalize doctors and nurses for providing the health care that their patients need and that they are trained to provide.”

He continued, “This extreme and dangerous agenda is out of step with the vast majority of Americans. My administration will continue to protect access to reproductive health care and call on Congress to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade in federal law once and for all.”

Biden’s tweets were the talk of the night, and citizens across the country applauded him for taking the proper stance.
