In an interview on Monday, March 4, 2024, President Joe Biden predicted the aftermath of the 2024 elections. Biden said former president Donald Trump, the frontrunner to secure the Republican nomination, would again seek to overturn the election if he loses in November. He claims Trump will “do anything” to win the election.
In addition, he said Trump will contest the outcome “no matter what the result is.” Biden made the forecast in a rare interview, saying he believes Trump, like in 2020, won’t concede if he wins. “Losers who are losers are never graceful,” Biden told the New Yorker.
“I just think that he’ll do anything to try to win. If, and when, I win,” he added. “I think he’ll contest it. No matter what the result is.” Ahead of Super Tuesday on March 5, a rematch of the 2020 election, pitting the two men against each other, looks imminent.
The chance of a 2020 rematch looks certain following Trump’s domination of the Republican primaries. In the rare feature interview with “The New Yorker,” Biden spoke about the upcoming elections. The president said he is “best positioned” to beat Trump at the national polls again.

“I’m the only one who has ever beat him. And I’ll beat him again,” Biden said. He added rhetorically, “If you thought you were best positioned to beat someone who, if they won, would change the nature of America, what would you do?” However, despite his confidence, supporters continue to voice serious concerns about Biden’s age.
Hence, Biden is trailing Trump in most national polls, including a “New York Times/Siena College poll.” The poll found Trump ahead 48%-43% among registered voters. Also, the poll revealed that 73 percent of voters believe Biden is too old to be an effective president.

Also, 42 percent of voters believe Trump is too old for the job, being just four years younger than Biden. In the interview, Biden discussed the fallout from the insurrection on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021. Also.in January 2024, a CBS poll found that the January 6 Capitol riot might repeat itself.
Half of the poll respondents believed that the losing side of the 2024 election would resort to violence. Biden said he believed Americans would reject a “Trumpist” view of politics. However, he noted that he is ready for the outcome to get ugly.
In the same interview, Mike Donilon, a top Biden adviser, argued that preserving democracy will be a focal point for voters. He claimed it would emerge as the campaign’s defining issue as the election draws nearer. By November, Donilon predicted, “the focus will become overwhelming on democracy.”

He added, “I think the biggest images in people’s minds are going to be of January 6.” Trump faces federal criminal charges from Special Counsel Jack Smith for trying to overturn the 2020 election. According to court filings, the effort resulted in a violent attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Despite the multiple charges, Trump has doubled down on debunked claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election. Furthermore, he is already making unsubstantiated claims of cheating in the 2024 election. Trump said Republicans must have a massive turnout in November “so it is too big to rig.”
