As the Los Angeles fires rage on, Kim Kardashian is under a different kind of fire. The reality TV star is facing public outrage after her clothing brand continued promoting its products on social media. Kim Kardashian SKIMS brand released the posts on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, as the horrific wildfires took lives and made people homeless.
Adding fuel to the fire, Kim Kardashian did the same on her personal Instagram handle. The move enraged social media users who blasted her and her company for being insensitive to the ongoing disaster. One of the notable opponents was comedian Meredith Lynch, who gave the 44-year-old a piece of her mind.
Although many of the critics weren’t totally against the promotion of her products, their anger stemmed from the Kim Kardashian SKIMS brand’s silence on the devastating wildfires. Consequently, fans flooded the post’s comment section to register their displeasure and disgust.
“Still trying to make money from people during the horrific fires,” one post read. Another user wrote, “How about making a post of resources that’s going on in LA and what Kim and Skims is doing to help!!”
Another post compared her to her sister, Khloe Kardashian, who has been posting solutions and resources concerning the wildfires on a daily basis. “WHAT ABOUT CALIFORNIA? All you care about is yourself and money! Khloe is the REALEST that’s why I love her SM,” the comment read.
Another displeased Instagram user wrote, “@skims who cares about a stupid sale. Pack the money and underwear and get it to people who need help in LA.”

Why Is Kim Kardashian Getting Dragged?
Kim Kardashian received some backlash after she shared a similar post on her Instagram Story on the same day. Her post contained info about the winter sale. Of course, social media users also rebuked her for her “tone-deaf” choice of priorities.
The post didn’t go down well with comedian and writer Meredith Lynch, who owns a home in Los Angeles. Lynch posted a video in which she addressed Kim Kardashian. “LA is literally burning down, and Kimberly Noel is literally posting, telling us to buy SKIMS,” Lynch lamented.
“Not one thoughts or prayers on her Instagram, but she is posting you a countdown to her winter sale,” she added sharing a screenshot of Kardashian’s post.
“Kim Kardashian, who has these huge reaches, who has such a base in Los Angeles, it is wild to me that they’re not like, ‘hey let me use my platform to put out as much resources as possible,’” she also pointed out. “No, instead, she’s like, ‘buy SKIMS.’”
Lynch also analyzed the timing of the post to clear any doubts about its insensitivity. She pointed out that the TV personality posted the promotion in the thick of the fire outbreak. Thousands of people had already lost their homes at that time, Lynch disclosed.
“She has a whole f**king social media team that should be intervening right now,” she added, implying that Kim Kardashian’s team should have prevailed on the star to take down the controversial post. Instead, they should advise their principal to post resources in sympathy with victims.
“It is wild to me, we are living the end of days right now, that is what’s happening,” she complained. “Because of these billionaires, they’re so unaffected that they don’t care.”
Details of the Kim Kardashian SKIMS Ad
The Kim Kardashian SKIMS post, which has drawn so much attention and controversy, was a promotion of her company’s winter sales. Kardashian posted a clock that was counting down to the beginning of the sale. The post she made on her Instagram Story has since expired.
The post that the fashion designer’s company shared on their official Instagram contained multiple slideshows of their designs. One of the posts came with the caption, “THE WINTER SALE STARTS TOMORROW.” One of the post’s captions also read, “Set your alarm to shop the first major event of the year with up to 50% off your favorite SKIMS collections.”
The day after, SKIMS returned with a post showing its green sweatsuit. The photo came alongside a caption that read, “THE WINTER SALE IS HERE. Shop up to 50% off select best-selling collections and start 2025 looking your best in SKIMS.”

Was Kim Kardashian Affected by the LA Wildfires
At the time of writing, Kim Kardashian hasn’t been affected by the LA fires. Her $60 million mansion in Malibu has thankfully been untouched by the raging inferno. But over 200,000 people have had to be evacuated from their homes. Little wonder why the star has been roasted for being out of touch with the current situation.
Other celebrities haven’t been as lucky. Many of them have had to evacuate their homes. Some others witnessed the flames burn down their residences. These include Sandra Lee, James Woods, Anthony Hopkins, and Kim Kardashian’s friend, Paris Hilton. Hilton said in an Instagram post that she was “heartbroken” to learn that her house had been burnt down.
Despite the uproar generated by her posts, Kim Kardashian has received some supportive comments, too. “Because when LA burns, the rest of the world needs to stop??” queried one user. Another user pointed out that the posts may have been scheduled.
“I’m not a Kim fan, and I don’t own anything SKIMS. I’m sure that these were set up automatically to post. Other than complaining about everyone else, are you going to post more resources for people?” they wrote.
