There is no denying the world fame and success actress Judi Dench has achieved in her career thanks to her tremendous performances in movies. However, her love life is a whole new book waiting to be explored.
At 86, Dame Judi Dench has it all. A successful Hollywood career, an A-list status, a shelf full of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry, a massive fanbase, and a portfolio of blockbuster movies.
Perhaps her most prized accomplishment remains her only daughter, Finty who blessed her with an adorable grandson. Coupled with the love of the enviable conservationist, David Mills, this extraordinary dame certainly has the world at her feet.
JUDI DAME’S RELATIONSHIP WITH DAVID MILLS
In 2010, Judi Dame began dating David Mills, nine years after the death of her husband, Michael Williams. The duo became acquainted after the conservationist invited the actress to his wildlife center in Surrey, for the opening of a red squirrel enclosure near her home.
The icon honored the invitation, and they hit it off almost immediately despite their busy schedules. Dench once admitted that her romance with Mills came as a surprise, as she never thought she could find love again after the death of her late husband.
Luckily, not only did the mother of one find love, their feelings have continued to thrive over a decade later.
WHY JUDI DAME DESPISES THE WORD “PARTNER”
While Judi Dench acknowledges her love for her new beau, and how well-suited they were to go through life together, she preferred using terms other than “partners” to describe their relationship.
The actress once admitted how much she disliked the word “partner” when it comes to describing a significant other. According to her, the term brought dancing to mind, a far cry from the intimacy between people in a relationship.
She also ruled out “Friend” and “Boyfriend” from her list of words worthy of describing her beau. Although the commonly used love terms failed to appeal to the “Philomena’ star, she did have her personal preference, “chap.”
As it seems, Judi Dench, who has come to terms with not being as young as she used to, has no plans of adding “wife” to her collection of titles a second time. She told interviewers not to expect a proposal from Mills any time soon, as they both planned to pull themselves together, and “be our age.”
DENCH’S PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIPS
Long before David Mills came into her life, Judi Dench was married to British actor, Michael Williams. The pair tied the knot in 1971, welcoming their only child, Tara Cressida Frances Williams, the next year.
Dench’s only daughter went on to become an actress like her parents, going by the professional name, Finty Williams.
In 2001, after thirty years of marriage, Michael Williams passed away at 65, following a difficult battle with lung cancer.
The star had no publicly-known relationship for almost a decade until she found love again in David Mills. They have remained the ultimate sweethearts to date.
