Despite his refusal to host the awards ceremony in 2025, Kimmel has hosted the Oscars a total of four times. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Mulaney was approached about hosting the ceremony but refused the offer. Mulaney hosted the Academy’s 14th Governors Awards, which were held in January 2024.

During the 2024 ceremony, Mulaney delivered a memorable Kevin Costner-approved Field of Dreams skit. Subsequently, after the ceremony, Costner gave his opinion of Mulaney, which was filled with nothing but praise. Costner stated that Mulaney had a fantastic moment on stage that left him in awe and disbelief.

Costner said “Amazing. I watched it a second time… What a chance, because there’s always people in the Oscars trying to rush you. And he went fast. But what he said, I was very touched by it. I should talk to him because I was impressed. He was a genius.” Additionally, when reached for comments, the media representatives of both Kimmel and Mulaney didn’t respond
