Drake’s Grammy Journey boasts of 47 nominations in the course of his career. But his wins from his abundance of nominations are fewer than many would like to believe.
The list of nominees for the 2022 Grammys was released in November 2021. Like previous years, two of Drake’s songs made the list. However the rap icon withdrew from the Grammy race shortly after the announcement, leaving his total Grammy nominations at 47. However, how many of these Grammy Awards has the music legend ended up winning?
HOW MANY GRAMMYS DOES DRAKE HAVE?

In a music career that has spanned two decades, Drake has quite an impressive number of awards, but his Grammy wins seem to be in short supply. Before the Grammys 2021 nominations, Drake boasted of 44 Grammy nods, a number which increased to 47 thanks to his three nominations that year.
However, he has taken home the award only four times, including one in 2012, for his album, “Take Care,” and two in 2016 for “Hotline Bling.” The star snagged his last Grammy Award in 2019 in the Best Rap Song category for his song, “God’s Plan.”
DRAKE’S GRAMMYS HISTORY
While his overall wins at the Grammys did little to stress Drake’s music prowess and prominence in the entertainment industry, he does have an impressive history with the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.
GRAMMY AWARDS 2010-2011
In 2010, the rap legend landed two nominations. His song, “Best I Ever Had” made the “Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance categories.
Drake went on to snag four nominations in 2011, including “Best New Artist. “Fancy” was nominated for Best Rap Performance by a Duo/Group, “Over” made the Best Rap Solo Performance category, while the album, “Thank Me Later,” earned a nod for Best Rap Album.
2012-2013
In 2012, the rapper earned four nominations. For the Album of the Year Category, “Loud” made the list. “Moment 4 Lyfe” qualified for the Best Rap Performance category, while “What’s My Name,” and “I’m On One” earned a nod for Best Rap/Song Collaboration.
Drake landed his first Grammy win in 2013 for the album, “Take Care,” which won Album of the Year. That same year, he earned two other nods including Best Rap Song (The Motto,”), and Best Rap Performance, “HYFR (Hell ya F***ing Right),”
GRAMMY AWARDS 2014 and 2015
The Grammys 2014 nominations list saw Drake qualify for the Album of the Year category for “Good Kid, m.A.A.d City” and “Nothing Was The Same.”
The songs, “F***in’ Problems” and “Started From the Bottom” were nominated for Best Rap Song.
Again in 2015, the recording artist landed four Grammy nominations. “0 to 100/The Catch Up” qualified for two categories, including Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. “Beyonce” made the Album of the Year category, while “Tuesday” earned a nod for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
2016-2017 Grammys
In 2016, Drake earned five Grammy nods. Two of his songs, “Truffle Butter,” and “Back to back,” made the Best Rap Performance category, while “Only,” made Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.”
“If You Are Reading This It’s Too Late,” snagged him a nomination for Best Rap Album, while “Energy” made the Best Rap Song category.
For the 2017 Grammys, the icon earned a total of eight nominations, winning two including Best Rap Song (“Hotline Bling”) and Best Rap/Sung Performance (“Nice for What”).
Additionally, he earned nods in the categories: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (Work), Best Rap Performance (“Pop Style”), Best rap Album (“Views”), Record of the Year (“Work”), and Album of the year (“Views,”).
GRAMMY AWARDS 2019
The icon won one more Grammy Award in 2019 for his song, “God’s Plan,” in the Best Rap Song category. That rounded off his Grammy wins to four. Also in 2019, he earned six other nominations.
They include best rap Performance (“Nice for What” and “Sicko Mode”), Song of the year (“God’s Plan”), Record of the year (“God’s Plan”), Album of the Year (“Scorpion”), and Best Rap Song (“Sicko Mode”).
DRAKE AT THE 2020 GRAMMYS
Two of Drake’s songs were nominated for the 2020 Grammys including “Gold Roses” for Best Rap Song, and “No Guidance” for Best R&B song.
Following the release of the list of nominees, the music icon called out the Grammys for snubbing black artists, citing “The Weeknd’s absence from the list, whose album, ” After Hours” was the best-selling album in the U.S.
He also pointed out the absence of other deserving artists, describing the ceremony as corrupt. Going further, he urged other bodies to establish a new award show, which would better recognize talents respective of color or genre of music.
Drake ended up winning none of his Grammy nods that year, but the impact of his words reverberated through the industry.
GRAMMYS 2021 NOMINATIONS
The rapper was among top artists to earn nods in the Grammys 2021 nominations list with two of his songs. Drake made the Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance categories for his song “Laugh Now Cry Later.”
He also landed a nod for the Best Music Video award, for the song, “Life Is Good.” Sadly, the rapper ended up winning none of the categories at the award show that year.
Perhaps the upcoming Grammys would see Drake add more deserving wins to his record of four. Or not.
Pulling Out Of The Grammys
In 2022, Drake make the Grammy Award nomination list again, in two different categories. His album, “Certified Lover Boy” earned the rapper a nod for Best Rap Album, while the track, “Way 2 Sexy” snagged a spot in the Best Rap Performance category.
However, the “No Guidance” crooner won neither as things took an unexpected turn. In December 2021, shortly after the release of the nominations list for the 2022 Grammys, the world received the shocker that Drake decided to pull out of the Grammys.
Sources revealed the rapper and his management team requested to pull out from the list of nominees without stating their motivation. Ultimately, the Recording Academy honored his decision to withdraw his nomination, updating their website to exclude his name from the Grammy list.
Although the rapper has failed to address his decision or the motivation behind it, one can safely attribute it to his contentious history with the Grammys.
