The pro football hall of famer Terrell Davis was detained and taken off a United Airlines flight without probable cause. This occurred just as he and his family were getting ready for a California vacation. A flight from Denver to Orange County, California was terminated at the time of the occurrence.
When a cup of ice was requested by one of the sons during beverage service, 51-year-old Davis, his wife, and their daughter were all on a plane. This was as mentioned on Instagram by Davis. As per the tweet, an airline employee “either disregarded or failed to hear his plea and proceeded beyond our row.”
Davis Explained What Transpired
“I calmly reached behind me and lightly tapped (the attendant’s) arm to get his attention to again ask for a cup of ice for my son,” Terrell Davis wrote. “He shouted, ‘Don’t hit me,’ and left the cart to hurriedly approach the front of the plane. I was confused, as were the passengers in front of me who witnessed the exchange. I thought nothing of it other than this particular employee was incredibly rude and blatantly wrong in his accusations of me hitting him.”
Davis added that he did not see or contact the attendant for the remainder of the flight. After the plane arrived in Orange County, the pilot instructed everyone to remain seated. Then FBI and law enforcement personnel rushed to Davis’s seat, handcuffed him, and escorted him off the plane. The scene “recorded by multiple passengers,” he claimed.

Tamiko Davis Chipped in
“My boys were present. And my daughter was there. “My wife is there,” he additionally said to CNN. “I’m curious what is going on. They didn’t interrogate me. I didn’t get an opportunity to explain.” Tamiko Davis, Davis’ wife, stated that she knew her spouse was unable to ask why he was chained and hauled out.
“Terrell understands better. “Historically, interaction with law enforcement as a Black man …you can’t ask,” she told CNN. “So thank God my husband has the wherewithal, the class, the understanding to know, in that moment, all he could do was sit there and comply and be humiliated in front of his sons and the 200 … however many people were on that plane.”
A Distressing Occurrence
Terrell Davis stated that he aspires to be an excellent example for his children. He encourages them to do the proper thing. Thus rendering the sight of him being led out in handcuffs further distressing. “We were just left to fend for ourselves on a flight with everyone staring at us,” Davis’ wife told ABC’s “Good Morning America”. This was after he was removed from the aircraft.
Furthermore, “During questioning, it was rightfully determined by the agents that this flight attendant was inaccurate in his accusations and the agents profusely apologized,” Davis claimed. United Airlines has “removed the flight attendant from duty while we closely review this matter,” according to an email sent to CNN.

A Recurring Event
The Davises stated that they do not know the flight attendant’s race. However, they claim that Black males are frequently mistreated. He further added that they are teaching their boys to be wary of this harsh reality. The FBI’s Los Angeles field office also confirmed that agents and law enforcement partners responded to a report of an incident involving an airplane that landed at Orange County’s John Wayne Airport.
A person who was detained for questioning “was cooperative with law enforcement and was released to continue his travels,” according to the FBI. Unless charges are filed publicly, the FBI does not release incident details or the names of persons who may have been interviewed, according to FBI field office spokesperson Laura Eimiller.
Terrell Davis Glowing Career
Davis, one of only eight running backs to rush for more than 2,000 yards in an NFL season, spent seven seasons with the Broncos from 1995 to 2001, helping the team win two Super Bowls in January 1998 and January 1999.
He was awarded MVP of the first title game after rushing for 157 yards and three touchdowns in Denver’s 31-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers. The three-time Pro Bowler was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017. Despite his celebrity, Davis claims he and other Black males are frequently treated differently.

“I always try to go through a checklist of things that it could be, and I always try to use race as like the last sort of possible thing,” Davis told CNN, explaining that he encourages his sons to remain open-minded if they feel that they are being viewed differently.
However, he added, “I always tell them that what applies to everyone else doesn’t apply to you.” “We strive to instill in them the idea that there are repercussions, but our expectations are different.”
