American rapper Kanye West’s documentary is set to air on Netflix. It promises to give fans a broader look at West’s humble beginnings. And an inside look at his lifestyle and ideals.
Kanye West is one rap music legend who has dazzled fans with his greatest songs yet. He is a songwriter, a record producer, businessman, fashion designer, and recipient of many accolades.
However, fans of the star would get to know more about him as his biography titled “Jeen-Yuhs” stream on Netflix. Netflix recently released a teaser of the documentary and, below are what fans are to expect.
Kanye West’s Documentary “Jeen-Yuhs”
Kanye West’s documentary was co-directed by Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Oh. This isn’t the first time the director and West have collaborated on a project; the three have been together since 1998.
Simmons and Ozah directed the videos for some of West’s tracks like “Jesus Walks,” “Two Words” from the rapper’s 2004 debut album, “The College Dropout.” The two directors also reportedly received $30 million for the new documentary.
Co-directed by Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah, the program sees the rapper’s career success and struggles over the years. The documentary shows the behind-the-scenes footage as West walked his way to the top of showbiz.
“Jeen-Yuhs” also gives a peek at the “Gold Digger” artist’s failed 2020 presidential attempt. And the death of his mother, Donda West.
In the Netflix teaser released, West and Mos Def are seen rapping their song “Two Words.” Amidst the documentary project, the rapper also launched his album “Donda,” making history since its release.
“Donda” is the first album to reach number one on Apple Music’s Top Albums list in 152 countries in just 24 hours. Apple’s reports showed that fans streamed the album over 60 million times on the first day of its release.
Kanye West’s Documentary, “Jeen-Yuhs”
Netflix reportedly acquired West’s documentary, which covered about 20 years of West’s life, for 30 million dollars. Fans can’t wait to get the full series as it also contains never-before-seen events.
Although the business mogul was not creatively involved in the production, he allowed Coodie and Chike to film him for 21 years.
A source also revealed Coodie had been filming the rapper since the ’90s in Chicago, and their relationship has a major impact on the new documentary. However, it remains unclear if the program covers West’s divorce from Kim Kardashian.
More Details On the Documentary
Interestingly, another documentary on the 44-year-old fashion designer is in the making in Hollywood, but this time by Steve Stanulis. In an interview, Stanulis, who was West’s bodyguard in 2016, said the show covers his tumultuous relationship with West.
Stanulis, who is now a producer, director, and actor, didn’t provide much detail about the new project. But, his PR representative noted that the project was still in “discussions with multiple platforms.”
“Jeen-Yuhs,” which sees a lot of throwback events from Kanye’s life as a star and behind the stage, is set to premiere in 2022, as Netflix reported. The film also shows West’s most recent activities.
