Woody Allen is a veteran Hollywood director who rose to prominence during the 1960s when he started writing plays and producing them. The director, born in Brooklyn, New York, to Jewish parents, started as a comedian submitting quips to newspaper magazines while still at New York University. A year later, he made his first film, “What’s Up, Tiger Lily?” and then, in 1967, starred as James Bond’s nephew in “Casino Royale.”Allen’s work started gaining recognition during the late 1960s, and after making the movie “Take the Money and Run” in 1969 bagged a three-movie deal with United Artists Corporation. Before making any film for United Artists Corporation, Allen appeared in the romantic comedy “Play It Again, Sam,” which he also wrote.

In 1971, he made his first movie for the Corporation titled “Bananas,” followed by “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex” a year later.
The movie “Sleeper” in 1973 represented his third movie for United Artists Corporation, but Allen continued working with them for the rest of the decade. Their partnership proved successful, and Allen made a landmark achievement when his 1977 movie “Annie Hall” won three Academy Awards.
Allen was awarded a plaque for Best Picture while lead actress Keaton won for best actress. Allen and his collaborator Marshall Brickman also won for best screenplay. This proved to be a turning point in Allen’s life, and he would go on to produce many iconic films and launch the careers of multiple Actors and Actresses who worked with him.
Sexual Allegations and Career Decline
During the early 1990s, Woody Allen was at the height of his career and in a relationship with actress Mia Farrow. However, things turned sour between them in 1992 when Farrow found nude pictures of her adopted daughter in Allen’s house.
The filmmaker confessed to an affair between him and Farrow’s adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn. A couple of months later, things got worse for Allen when another of Farrow’s adopted daughters, Dylan, accused the filmmaker of sexual abuse.
Allen vehemently denied this and accused Farrow of pitting the child against him. Various agencies investigated the molestation case but cleared Allen of any wrongdoing.
Due to this controversy, Allen’s career suffered greatly, and his popularity and influence among critics and fans diminished. He struggled to get positive press around his movies due to his damaged reputation.
Ellen Page Regrets Making A Movie Woody Allen
Hollywood star Ellen Page was an upcoming actress when she worked with Allen in the movie “To Rome With Love” in 2012. Although sexual abuse allegations had hampered the filmmaker’s career, he was slowly gaining lost momentum, and his reputation for launching the career of actors remained.
Five years after the movie’s release, Page took to her Facebook page to explain making a movie with Allen was the biggest regret of her career. According to the Actress, she felt ashamed to have worked with him, but she was an upcoming act at the time and was under pressure to accept the opportunity. Page declared:
“Ultimately, however, it is my choice what films I decide to do, and I made the wrong choice. I made an awful mistake.”
Woody Allen and Jeffrey Epstein Were Friends
Allen and Epstein were both big Hollywood celebrities until their career suffered due to allegations of sexual abuse. Although investigators cleared Allen of any wrongdoing, Epstein was convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution.
