Drake issued a warning against false companions who may “switch up” and “try to stab you in the back.” This came amid his ongoing rivalry with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. The “One Dance” singer spoke fiercely to the audience at Canadian broadcaster Tyrone Edwards’ Nostalgia Party in Toronto on Saturday night, October 5.

In an Instagram video, he stated that his genuine pals were undoubtedly in the building. He advised that those you believed were your friends or close to you may change their minds at some point in life.

Drake, 37, went on to say that they might attempt to move funny with you, stab you in the back, or do a variety of things to you. He concluded that no matter where you are in life, you will come to that conclusion, and sometimes it will be only you and yourself.

The “God’s Plan” rapper abruptly wrapped up his remarks before playing Beyoncé’s anthem “Me, Myself, and I.” The Grammy-winning rapper, born Aubrey Drake Graham, also conveyed a message when he played 50 Cent’s 2003 song “Many Men.”

Drake’s remarks come after he reportedly unfollowed NBA players LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan on Instagram when they expressed support for Lamar. Fans claimed Drake removed James, 39, and DeRozan, 35, since they both attended Lamar’s Juneteenth event this summer.

While James enjoyed the event from the audience, DeRozan, 37, joined the “Humble” rapper onstage to perform his No. 1 Drake diss hit, “Not Like Us.” On the hit song, Lamar accuses Drake of liking young girls, which he denies.

Drake leads in terms of commercial success. He has countless Billboard chart records and multiple platinum albums and is one of the most streamed musicians worldwide. His tracks “Hotline Bling” and “One Dance” have enormous mainstream appeal.

Kendrick Lamar, on the other hand, is acclaimed for his artistic contributions. He has received the Pulitzer Prize for Music, a rare accomplishment for a hip-hop musician. His albums, like “To Pimp a Butterfly” and “DAMN” have received critical praise for their profound, conceptual narrative and social satire.

Kendrick Lamar is well-known for his complex lyrics and political ideas, which have influenced the jazz scene and shaped political discourse. Both musicians have participated in a Cold War-style interaction, employing implied disses to assert hip-hop supremacy, giving drama and excitement to the hip-hop environment.

Despite the battle, both artists have professed mutual respect, recognizing the other’s genius while remaining competitive.

Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s feud has been simmering for years, but it reached a boiling point in 2023. The original spark came from Lamar’s appearance on Future’s album when he attacked Drake and J. Cole. This sparked a succession of diss tunes and public remarks from both sides.

Their partnership began on an upward note, with collaborations in the early 2010s. However, things changed in 2013 when Lamar lashed out at Drake and other rappers in his verse on Big Sean’s “Control.”

The conflict resurfaced in 2023, fueled by Lamar’s violent lyrics and Drake’s reactions at his concerts. It is a classic example of a competitive rivalry escalating into a full-blown feud. However, the success of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” dealt the final blow to the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar discourse.

How Long After “Family Matters” Did “Meet The Grahams” Come Out?

“Meet the Grahams” is a diss single by Kendrick Lamar. It was released on May 3, 2024, via Interscope Records during his ongoing conflict with Drake. It is Lamar’s response to Drake’s “Family Matters,” a diss track aimed primarily at the rapper. “Meet the Grahams” debuted less than an hour after “Family Matters”.

“Meet the Grahams” is structured in the format of a letter. Each lyric is addressed to a member of Drake’s family, including his son Adonis, his parents Sandra and Dennis Graham, his supposed daughter, and Drake himself.

In the song, Lamar accuses Drake of being an absent parent, signing sex offenders to his OVO Sound record company, and being a sexual predator.
