They say the internet never forgets. However, this time, it is Florida residents who are not giving Bridget Ziegler any breathing space. Last week, during a Florida school board meeting, the number of parents, members, and students in attendance was higher than usual. They all attended the meeting largely to call for Ziegler’s resignation.
Bridget Ziegler is a notable Sarasota County School Board member and co-founder of Moms for Liberty. Before now, Mrs Ziegler was a voice of reason on the Sarasota board, participating actively and even moving motions that locals have seen as controversial.
For example, she maintained a hardcore stance against the LGBTQ+ community. Largely, her motions were made to ensure the community’s ideologies do not infiltrate schools in Sarasota.
So, it was payback time for everyone who has ever come under Ziegler’s chopping board after a scandal of her three-way sexual relationships went public. It so happens that Mrs Ziegler and her husband, Christian, have been in a three-way sexual relationship with another woman. However, the third party recently filed a lawsuit against Christian for sexual assault.

Christian keeps insisting that the sexual encounter was consensual. However, the police investigation sheds more light on what happened on the day. Christian and Bridget had an appointment to meet with their sexual partner. However, Bridget pulled out at the last minute, citing some emergency that required her attention.
Upon learning of Mrs. Ziegler’s unavailability, the third party texted Christian, requesting that the meeting be canceled. The third-party went as far as stating that she agreed to the meeting mainly because she was sexually attracted to Bridget, not Christian.
So far, the scandal has been a major disruption for the Zieglers. A unanimous vote recently ousted Christian, the immediate past chairman of the Florida GOP. Florida GOP did not want to sacrifice their success in the coming elections for allegiance to Christian Ziegler.

Unfortunately, residents of Sarasota County cannot oust Mrs Bridget as the GOP did to her husband. Her seat on the school board is an appointment from the Governor’s office.
So, if Bridget Ziegler refuses to resign, she can only leave that seat through a suspension by Gov. Ron DeSantis. Even at that, the suspension will be subject to a vote in the state Senate before her removal from office can be full and final.

From Bridget’s poise so far, she won’t be going down easy. Since the three-way sexual scandal went public, she has attended board meetings as usual, almost as if nothing is out of place. Even in the face of massive protests and demonstrations calling for her resignation, Mrs Ziegler would often still walk into board meetings with a broad smile.
Something similar played out during the meeting of the Sarasota School Board last week. Attendees at the meeting were allowed close to three hours to comment on the proceedings. Locals, parents, and students made it their responsibility to point out why Ziegler needs to step down.
