On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, DDG files a restraining order against Halle Bailey. He asked the court to prevent her from taking their son out of the country. This is coming a month after Bailey’s legal filings, when she was granted temporary physical and legal custody of Halo.
Bailey was also permitted to take their son to Italy on June 7, where she is shooting a film. At the time, she accused the Twitch rapper of subjecting her to emotional and physical abuse, which created an unsafe environment for herself and their son.
And now, DDG has counter-filed, asking for his own restraining order and specifically seeking for the judge to keep their 17-month-old in the United States and stop Bailey from taking him on vacation to Italy.
The 27-year-old streamer claimed that the 25-year-old Little Mermaid actress presents a risk to their son. And to prevent the toddler from harm, he’s asked the court for a domestic violence restraining order. His team also asked for a continuance, or a postponement, of the domestic violence restraining order hearing initiated by Bailey against him that had been scheduled for June 4.
Why Did DDG File a Restraining Order Against Halle Bailey?
The YouTube streamer and rapper DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., requested an emergency hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court. He filed for a restraining order, requesting that the court restrict Bailey from traveling internationally with their son. The travel restriction is tied to Bailey’s alleged plan to vacation in Italy.
In the filings, DDG’s lawyers leveled allegations to cast doubt on Bailey’s fitness as a parent. It stated that Bailey poses an “imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child based on repeated, documented threats of self-harm.” He further said that if Halo were to leave the country, it would put Halo in potential danger. And then he would be without the protections of the court and any “emergency intervention mechanisms.”
It further emphasizes that international travel would limit the US legal jurisdiction over urgent family matters.

What Are the Allegations in DDG’s Restraining Order Filing?
In the 44-page restraining order files, DDG claimed that Bailey had made “repeated threats of suicide and self-harm.” He also alleged that there were instances where she endangered Halo’s safety while she was in emotional distress. In one instance, during a fight between them, she took his gun with her and left the house. He eventually found her outside holding the gun while she looked “emotionally unwell, incoherent, and potentially suicidal.”
Amid the custody battle, DDG submitted text messages as evidence in the restraining order request. In the chat, Bailey threatened to kill herself after she found out he’d allegedly cheated. The judge overseeing the case has indicated that she will soon issue an order on whether Bailey can travel with their son or not. The next hearing in the case is reportedly Tuesday, June 24.
Has Halle Bailey Responded to DDG’s Restraining Order?
Media outlets like USA Today and PEOPLE have reached out to Halle Bailey’s representative for a comment since DDG’s filing, but there has been no response yet.
The former couple started dating in 2022 but split in October 2024. Since their split, they’ve been engaged in an ongoing legal battle over the custody and visitation rights of their son. After Bailey’s restraining order against DDG in May, she requested full legal and physical custody of Halo. She also requested that DDG be granted supervised visitation only through a professional service.
Under the current court order, DDG is allowed weekly supervised visitation for six hours while Halo is in Los Angeles. Additionally, Bailey asked the court to prevent him from taking their son out of Los Angeles County without prior authorization.
As a result of DDG’s alleged abuse, the temporary restraining order ordered him to stay 100 yards away from her and their son and to stop posting about them on social media.

How Has the Restraining Order Impacted DDG and Halle Bailey’s Co-Parenting?
DDG and Halle announced the birth of their son in January 2024. Their relationship, however, ended several months later, and co-parenting has become messy as both parties have requested domestic violence restraining orders against one another.
As they continue to hash out their custody issues in court, it is difficult to tell what the future holds for Halo. The DDG restraining order case files raise delicate questions around custody, mental health status, and international travel safety involving a minor.
The outcome of the next court hearing will determine whether DDG’s motion for a domestic violence restraining order and travel restrictions will be granted.
