“Counting On” star Joy-Anna Duggar is out to set the records straight after fans called her out for holding her newborn improperly.
Days after “Counting On” star Joy Duggar received bashing from online trolls over how she carried her newborn, the reality star has set the record straight.
The internet trolling followed some pictures shared by the mother-of-two on Sunday. The shots showed Duggar posed for a photo alongside her husband, Austin Forsyth and their two children, Gideon, two, and Evelyn .
The quad looked all dressed up for church, as reflected in the 22-year-old’s caption. However, what left fans talking was the way the reality star carried her 1-month-old daughter, Evelyn Mae Forsyth.
One observer pointed out the awkward position to Joy-Anna Dugger, saying she looked like she wanted to drop the infant. Rather than shade the commenter, the icon extended her gratitude to the fan. She then cleared the air saying:
“Thank you for your concern. I was holding Evy, and then Gideon was trying to hold my hand! I wasn’t about to drop her, though!”
After setting the records straight, many commended the young mother for her act of maturity. Other commenters congratulated Duggar for her beautiful family, as well as their newest addition.
Duggars and Forsyth became second-time parents on August 21, barely five months after going public with their expectant-parents status.
The couple announced the new arrival via Instagram posts. Duggar shared two adorable photos of herself and Forsyth posing with the newborn.
She accompanied the pictures with a lengthy, emotional caption, expressing their happiness over the new addition. The star also described the baby’s personality, concluding by thanking everyone who extended their prayers during her pregnancy journey. She shared:
“We are grateful for all the love and prayers that have come our way during this pregnancy.”
The new arrival came months after the “Counting On” star revealed she suffered a miscarriage, and invariably, lost her would-have-been second child.
Forsyth and Duggar shared the news of the miscarriage on their joint Instagram account in July 2019. The star was five months pregnant at the time of the miscarriage.
According to the couple, they received the devastating news when they visited the hospital for their 20th-week ultrasound to determine the baby’s gender. Despite the loss, the pair was able to pick up the broken pieces and forge ahead.
Although Evelyn was hardly a replacement for the lost pregnancy, welcoming the beautiful bundle of joy was a step in the couple’s journey to recovery.
