Following a wave of controversy, the police and court have dismissed domestic violence allegations against U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert. Her ex-husband changed his claim that the lawmaker punched him during a heated argument in a restaurant.
According to police and court documents, the couple was in the restaurant trying to work out their issues. However, the police arrested Jayson Boebert earlier this month on misdemeanor charges.
According to the police, he had called 911 to report domestic violence in Silt, Colorado, but he later refused to cooperate with them. They even had to remove him forcibly. According to a police affidavit, Jayson is also accused of a physical altercation with the couple’s 18-year-old son and also taking out a rifle.
The fight came a few days after his wife, Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert, announced that she would switch congressional districts. She had also been in the middle of a controversial moment that involved groping and vaping. The Boeberts finalized their divorce last year in October.

Furthermore, Jayson Boebert told the Denver Post that he called the police to tell them he was dropping all charges in the incident at the Miner’s Claim restaurant. “I don’t want nothing to happen,” Jayson Boebert said then. “Her and I were working through a difficult conversation.” However, the restaurant didn’t have any surveillance footage of the incident, and there also weren’t any witnesses or injuries on Jayson Boebert.
“Due to a lack of any evidence, the allegations of domestic violence against Rep. Lauren Boebert are unfounded, and the investigation into Rep. Lauren Boebert is closed,” police said.

According to Lauren Boebert, she and her ex-husband were in the restaurant to continue a conversation that they were having earlier at their old home. She told the police they were trying to reconcile and be on good terms. Lauren added that the conversation took a turn when they started to discuss their new partners, and she placed her finger on Jayson’s nose to end the conversation.
However, Jayson Boebert, who the police described as “highly intoxicated,” called 911 to report domestic abuse. He also claimed that Lauren had punched him in the face. According to Lauren’s affidavit, Jayson Boebert told her, “Congratulations, your name is going to be in the headline.”
Lauren also told the police that she believed the divorce hurt Jayson and that he was trying to make her suffer like he was. However, there is currently no way to confirm her claims. Jayson has recanted his claim.

In September 2023, Lauren Boebert and a friend had to be escorted out of a musical performance of “Beetlejuice” in Denver. Other guests had complained that they were using their phones, singing, vaping, and causing a distraction. However, Lauren later apologized for the incident.
Lauren Boebert hasn’t been in Washington for a long time. However, she has managed to build a national reputation and has aligned with the Republican party’s extreme right wing. She has been in the headlines several times, just like when she heckled President Joe Biden during his 2022 State of the Union address.
