Sometimes we get tired, either from work, school, our environment, or kids, and we want a break. For most people, taking a break means going on a vacation. However, for some people, taking a vacation might be too expensive, or for others, traveling outside the country might be too much stress, hence a staycation.

A staycation, as the name implies, is simply taking a vacation without your home country, in this case, America. Staycations are ideal for unwinding, rediscovering hometown charms, and enjoying home comforts, not just for those unable to travel. Read on to find out why you should opt for a staycation!

Why Do Couples Go on Staycation?

When taking a vacation or break, the first and foremost reason is to escape reality. Therefore, taking a staycation, whether in another location in America or your backyard, allows you to do just that. However, it is important to remember that the key to enjoying a staycation is to go out of your usual daily routine.

One constant in our daily lives is stress, and stress can take a toll on a couple’s relationship. This is because the more time we spend battling our daily lives, the less time we spend with our significant others. So, traveling or taking time off to enjoy each other’s presence can help strengthen and renew a relationship.

Another reason couples go on staycations is the promise of shared experiences and memories. As the stays go, when you are old and gray and surrounded by your grandkids, the stories you tell will be about your joint experiences, not your work lives.

You will discover that sharing private jokes or remembering experiences that are unique to the two of you can strengthen your bond.

How Long Is a Staycation?

A staycation is a vacation you take relatively close to your home instead of traveling abroad. You can spend a day, an overnight stay, a week, or however long you want to travel. However, the whole purpose of a staycation is to allow you to remain in your hometown.

A passport, a costly flight, or a visa are not required. However, you are going to a new location that you have not been to. A staycation is a leisurely trip you take while still in your nation; you usually stay in your own house, another apartment, or a hotel.

It means taking a break and relaxing at home with activities like poolside lounging, TV watching, reading, or family time. Staycations typically involve self-care like baths, massages, yoga, and meditation to rejuvenate the body and mind.

What Is the Difference Between Staycation and Baecation?

A baecation is any trip you take with your loving partner or your best friend. Baecation is a common marketing tool for romantic vacations and places dubbed “lands of love” in the tourism industry. Combining the word “vacation” at the end with the word “bae” creates the hybrid term “baecation.”

A further marketing advantage is that the word “baecation” sounds like a vacation. The term “baecation” is derived from the same root as “staycation,” which refers to a vacation spent at home and has become a staple of travel vocabulary. A staycation is simply vacationing at home.

The main difference between a baecation and a staycation is that while the former is specifically for couples, the latter can be for the entire family. Another difference is that while a baecation could be in another country or in your home country, a staycation has to be in your home country.

What Are the Disadvantages of a Staycation?

Although there are several advantages to a staycation, there are also disadvantages. Like all things, vacations have advantages and disadvantages. A staycation is an excellent substitute for a family trip. However, experiencing new things every time you travel can make living at home seem a little monotonous.

There are fewer things to do, no new locations to discover, and no new people to get to know. If you plan beforehand, you can mitigate a few drawbacks of a staycation. Regardless, it is not as comfortable as lodgings like hotels and resorts
