The 97th Academy Awards (The Oscars) is around the corner, and movie buffs are revving up for another exciting experience. On March 3, 2025, the stars and who-is-who in the movie arena will gather at the Dolby Theatre to honor the industry’s finest and reward excellence. Thankfully, the list of 2025 Oscar nominations is out, and we can now discuss the potential winners.
No one should be shocked to see the Netflix high-flyer “Emilia Perez” on multiple lists. The same goes for “The Conclave” and “A Complete Unknown.” Each award category comes with loads of both surprising and expected nominations. As is always the case, movie fans will also be satisfied or disappointed with inclusion and omissions.
“Emila Perez” is at the top of the leaderboard after bagging an impressive 13 nominations. One more nomination and the Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana-starred movie would have tied with “Titanic.” The 1997 romance and adventure movie has held the record for the highest number of nominations for a single movie with 14 nominations.
Only two other movies, 1951’s “All About Eve” and 2016’s “La La Land” stand shoulder to shoulder with “Titanic” on that feat. Nevertheless, records were also broken in the 2025 Oscar nominations list.
One of them was by Spanish actress Karla Sofía Gascón, who is now the first-ever transgender woman to receive a nomination for acting. Fans of Cynthia Erivo and box office top-gun “Wicked” will be some of the happiest.
The same goes for fans of Demi Moore, whose performance in the horror movie, “The Substance,” drew loads of attention from women. The movie x-rayed the treatment of women who attain a certain age. It’s time to see the much-awaited nominees for the 97th Oscars.

When Will the Nominees for the 2025 Academy Awards Be Revealed?
After multiple postponements, the 2025 Oscar nominations are finally out. The Academy Awards released the list of nominees on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. This came after the announcement was initially billed for Friday, January 17, before it was moved to Sunday, January 19.
The reason for the postponement is the Los Angeles wildfires. Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang announced the postponement in a joint statement. “Due to the still-active fires in the Los Angeles area, we feel it is necessary to extend our voting period and move the date of our nominations announcement,” they stated.
“We are all devastated by the impact of the fires and the profound losses experienced by so many in our community. The Academy has always been a unifying force within the film industry, and we are committed to standing together in the face of hardship,” the statement also read.
