Meghan Markle’s Netflix show has been postponed. The move is coming amidst the growing devastation caused by the Los Angeles fires. The catastrophe, which has so far claimed more than 25 lives, has caused the Duchess of Sussex to hit the pause button on her much-anticipated cooking show.
Meghan Markle’s decision was made public on Sunday, January 12, 2025, just before the show’s scheduled January 15 release date. Already, Netflix had got fans salivating for its release after the streaming giant unveiled the show’s trailer.
In a statement to PEOPLE magazine, Markle said she had reached an agreement with Netflix to put the show’s release on hold. “I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch.”
“With Love, Meghan” is a lifestyle series featuring “old and new” celebrity friends of Markle. Markle and her pals will rub minds in a bid to uncover useful tips for making everyday life as easy as ever. Los Angeles is a city that Markle holds so dear. She grew up in LA and is devastated by the destruction the city has suffered.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have also gotten involved in relief efforts. The couple were recently seen at a food bank where they lent a helping hand to cater for displaced residents. In addition, the couple were reported to have housed friends who were affected by the fire in their Montecito home.
Markle couldn’t imagine releasing her show while the people of LA were mourning the disaster. The series, which involved episodes surrounding homemaking and gardening tips, would have been out of place in a city where thousands of people have lost their homes.
