Entertainment magazine PEOPLE first broke the news about the finalized divorce after accessing court documents relating to the case. The documents show that the judgment on their divorce was finalized 20 weeks after Lopez requested it in August 2024. Therefore, the rollercoaster love story between the two Hollywood stars has ended once again.

According to the source, the “Shotgun Wedding” star did all she could to make the marriage work. “She didn’t want a divorce. She wanted to figure things out. They love each other. Jennifer is not the type to just give up,” the insider disclosed.

On the other end, things don’t seem to be any different for Ben Affleck. Reports have also indicated that he has been very much himself since the divorce saga. An insider with close ties with the actor and filmmaker said he is “doing well and is very focused.”
“He thrives when he has work projects. He’s been great when it comes to the kids, too. He’s doing exactly what he wants. He seems very happy,” the source was quoted to have said. The divorce drama began on August 20, 2024.
On that Tuesday, Jennifer Lopez, 55, applied to the Los Angeles County Superior Court for the termination of the marriage contract. According to court records which journalists obtained at the time, she listed April 26, 2024, as the date of the separation.
Interestingly, J.Lo didn’t seek the help of any lawyer. She filed the request herself and didn’t refer to any pre-nuptial agreement. Also, she didn’t ask for spousal support for any party.
But she requested that they cover the attorney fees equally while stating that they are yet to fully understand the “exact nature” of both their shared and separate property. The Latino pop star didn’t stop there. She also requested a change of name, seeking to assume her former identity as Jennifer Lynn Lopez.
